Apologies apologies to OP I thought this was imaginative with supply of K1000s dwarfing demand but...
My local real camera shop in Watford High Street UK sold me a nice condition K1000 with f/2 for 120 GBP Spring ‘16!
Today they have pristine ie as new K1000 with /1.7 at 229 GBP ie x1.9 ignoring lens and minor condition differences!

My K1000 was in similar condition in 16!

I think it might be a false positive from Norton. When I click on it, it takes me straight to SRS Microsystems with no reports of problems...

No trouble at all Most AV programs detect the occasional false positive. I believe Norton's generally pretty good, but I've heard of similar things before with both Norton and McAfee...

No trouble at all Robert.

I wonder if perhaps an ad was behind your alert. Ads are somewhat random, connected to each viewer's browsing history.

My browser has a built in ad blocker, it works quite well right out of the box. Now and then I get pestered by some ad with what I suspect to be malicious code hiding behind it, and all it takes is a quick mouse click and it never bothers me again.

Some sites don't like it because they make a fraction of a penny for every ad that presents itself to a viewer.

Too bad for them.

I think you've probably nailed it, Racer. I run uBlock Origin in Firefox, so I rarely see any ads (can't remember the last time I did, actually)...

Well I just picked up this little K1000 out of a charity shop for £50 - its near mint with just a few small nicks in the top plate and fitted with a 50mm f2. Botton plate is completely unmarked probably because it had been in its case for its entire life. It came with the original case (in fair condition), original strap, lens cap, two indifferent lenses (Sigma 39-80 and Hannimex 75-200 zooms) plus a no name auto flash.

Only usual amount of drek in the view finder and she runs like a charm.

I felt guilty taking it away for £50 to be honest.

Amazing what folks will pay for a K 1000! Not too long ago I scored a KX in excellent condition, along with a f 1.4 lens, for under $120. including shipping. The KX is what the K 1000 should have been, DOF preview, mirror lock-up, f stop and shutter visible in viewfinder, center weighted meter, etc.

Apparently a lot of people, including photography class teachers, claim that the K1000 is the must-have basic film camera.

Give me a KX, or a KM, or an MX, even an ME Super... well almost any other Pentax camera... (Well, perhaps not an A3!)

I'd agree the KX is a better camera, but at a cost. The KX was still available when the K1000 appeared as a cost reduced option. Had Pentax stuck with the KX, it's likely they'd have become too expensive to continue manufacturing them into the '90s (there's a reason why they stopped producing the KX & KM).

In hindsight, the obvious choice might have been to replace the KX with something like the Nikon FM2 (had they known mechanical cameras would still be popular in a world of electronics). However the price point would have been high and volumes low.

The other problem for Pentax is that they receive no income from the secondary sales...
So a more robust camera with lower sales wouldn’t have helped them at all...
