I think I'll take advantage of the current offer of 10GBP a roll in the UK and order a few rolls to pick up when I'm next over in November. Slide film is far too expensive but I'll probably never find any cheaper than that.

That's a good price, I pay $19.99 CDN here in Vancouver. (Which is a little over 12GBP)

Hm, where exactly can one get a roll of ektachrome for 10 GBP? I couldn't find any such offers...

I’m due my first 5 rolls of ektachrome back from Downtown Camera next week. Join the downtown camera AMFM film club and all Kodak products are 25% off.

I also have all my C41 processed there. Save up the rolls, 10 rolls of c41 gets a 20% discount and if you are spending more than$100 on processing and buying more film the shipping is free.

Of course, this is my first time shooting slide film, so I could have 5 useless rolls of film come back.

I finally got the first scans from my only roll of Ektachrome I bought.

Not impressed by this film, it has a strong blue cast.

Skylight filter would have helped, it's a must for shooting any E6 film. I would try a roll again using the proper skylight (or warming 81A) filter and see the changes.

PS I should have asked if the slides have a blue cast when you are viewing them on a light table or is it just the scans that have the cast?

It may just be lousy scanning and that can be corrected in PP. Never the less it's always better to get everything right when you press the shutter when shooting slides and treat them like you were only going to view them projected or on a light table. That way if you do scan them then you should have zero issues.

For these shots I used a a P-L filter, that worked well for the other E6 I have experience with, the Agfa 100 (I heard it's in reality Sensia).

A polarizing filter is good for darkening blue skies, reducing reflections on glass & water and cutting through haze, but I would not recommend using one all the time. A skylight or warming filter will remove the blue cast on E6 film the best and is a filter you would leave on for the entire roll of film. Treat the PL as a specialty filter.

I'd recommend shooting another roll of E100 with a skylight filter and I'm sure you will be more pleased with your results.

That looks bluer than I would expect a sky/uv to fix...

I’d look to the scan or processing.

I’d suggest your polarizer if you hadn’t said it worked fine with the Agfa...

Unless it was heat damaged... but I don’t remember what heat damage does to Ektachrome, and the new stuff may be different...

Old Ektachrome had a cool rendition compared to Kodachrome.
I preferred Kodachrome for its tendency towards warmer colors.
I also used Agfachrome, IIRC mostly because it was a bargain.

In this case a skylight filter (slightly pink) is probably a better choice than a UV.
When I finally use my new Ektachrome I may try my "Moose's" warming polarizer.
