k mount lense to screwbase spotmatic adaptor

I see adaptors for old screw mount lenses to mount on k mount cameras. I haven't seen the reverse. Are they out there? I would like to use my old spotmatic with some of my newer lenses. I'm assuming the AF or manual issue would not be a problem as long as I shoot manual

Hello,

No, That is not possible due to physical dimensions and registration (distance from the lens to the film plane). K mount s bigger than M42. That's why you can adapt M42 screwmount to K mount while keeping registration.

Thanks,

You night be able to rig up a Bellow or make an extension tube for macro work but that's about it I think...even then you'll have to make something yourself.

Look for one of the 55mm Super Takumars...or a SMC Takumar...The F1.8 and F2 are optically the same, the F2 is mechanically restricted to F2.

The wonderful (and often cheap) Takumars are one of the great reasons to use a Spotmatic. Embrace the M42

There is a company PrecisionParts that makes custom telescope adapters to order. A K-mount to M42 screwmount adapter needs to have a minimum of 15.5mm of extension (to accommodate the K bayonet) and run a minimum of $199.00 USD.

So basically you'll have an expensive extension tube with no aperture lever and your K-mount lenses will only be good for close-up and macro work.

You can buy some nice screwmount lenses with $199 USD.

Not so cheap anymore... since the Canon/Sony crew figured out how great this glass is and how easy it was to adapt to their cameras

I know what you mean, but just going off the front page classifieds on PF today, you could build a three lens Super Takumar kit (35, 55, 200) for ~$150... In the grand scheme of things, that's still pretty 'cheap'.
