Impulse purchase

I've just bought:

Pentax Program A
SMC-A 50/1.7
Vivitar 70-150/3.8
Vivitar 70-150mm 2x matched multiplier.
Some kind of random flash

All for about 70 bucks.

The stuff will arrive in a few days.

It were mostly to get the A 50, but now I will probably try do some film shooting. I will probably sell the Vivitar to a friend, since he is after a short tele-zoom : )

What about the camera, it feels like I almost never hear anything about the Pentax "program"-cameras. What are they like? (:

Here's some info about the A series bodies Pentax A-Series Film Bodies

I don't have a Program A myself, but I have several Super A's, which has some properties the Program A doesn't, and the basic body design is the same. Great camera.

The A 1.7's a great lens. It's my standard digi lens!

I love my Program Plus. It is small, well made, and works great with DA lenses AND Takumar screw mounts. The metering is accurate, the batteries last and are available, the viewfinder's a good one.

The last couple of things I posted to the photos section are with this camera and a 16-45 or DA70.

Well, this sounds great! I'm looking forward to use it

Too bad that there is so expensive to process film though.

You could have bought just an A 50mm f/1.7 with that money. Overall good deal!

Got the stuff today!

The vivitar 70-150 won't fit on any of the cameras I've tried it on without the "Matched multiplier" (K10D, Program A, GX-20)

Anyone know why? :O

Lithos, your photo's are very good. I enjoyed the one with the train. What camera did you use for it?

EDIT: Whoops this is the wrong thread, that will teach me to open several threads at a time! Damn tabs!

I love my Program Plus. One of the best handling cameras I've ever had. It has the feel of a classic metal SLR, with a decent grip (they added a raised finger grip.) Metering is great. Quite similarly specced to the ME Super that everyone raves about, with manual exposure, aperture priority, and the addition of Program auto exposure. The only thing I wish it had that the Super Program has is TTL flash support.

I love this vintage of camera. I always had my eye on a Canon A1, but didn't want to get into Canon FD glass, especially because it's not compatible with anything else. The Program Plus or Super Program are the perfect way to scratch that itch, and use good K, KA and KAF glass.

I entirely agree about the Program Plus, one of my favorite Pentaxes... but then which one isn't in some respect
