My "new" Honeywell Pentax H3v (I need to stop browsing the marketplace)

Hello,

I really need to stop browsing the marketplace here...

Long story short, I've had a Pentax SV for about a decade now. That is one of my all time absolutely favorite cameras. The looks, the coolest self timer ever made, the feel, the controls... It is jewelry. Just hold a Pentax!
So it stopped working. I sent to Eric for an overhaul. Unfortunately he replied saying the curtains were too far gone to be repaired. Very sad indeed. But at about the same time, this baby showed up in the marketplace.
The H3v and the SV are the same. Honeywell (the importer of Pentax in the US during the 60's and 70's) marketed it as H3v while in the rest of the world it was named Pentax SV.
According to the seller it was CLA by Eric just a few years ago. Seems to be working perfectly. It has a few scratches here and there and a dent in the top housing but it is purely cosmetic. It does not affect operation at all. The beautiful lens is in outstanding condition.

While in perfect working order and very clean, it was not "Concours" clean
So I took it to my workbench and did a quick polishing job. Hey, I've never claimed to be normal!

All the numbers in the dials were cleaned and they really pop! Same with the markings in the lens.

And the best part will begin tomorrow.....

I'll keep you updated of the results.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Very nice

I currently have two SV's away with an Australian technician having new curtains made. Will be interesting to see the results.

I agree though, it's a beautiful camera to use!

Hello,

Just got the roll back from Dwayne's! However, for the first time I was not happy with the scans so I did my own scans with the old flatbed scanner.
After scanning, I did minor work on them
-Manual dust removal
-some sharpening
-contrast adjustment
-minor cropping in some of them
-horizon leveling in 2 of the sea shots. Yeah, that's cheating.

Most of these were relying on Sunny 16 only

My 2 favorites of the roll

Early in the morning

Here we go again with the same tunnel. Why people say I'm obsessed with this tunnel?
from a distance

in front of the tunnel

inside the tunnel

from the back of the tunnel

I'm very happy!
What do you think?

Thanks,
