Most of the PF functions are set once and forget. Others relate to the PowerZoom functions, which while interesting back in the day, are of little use today. There's only a few that really matter day to day, those dealing with metering, program line or shutter speed steps really.

The IF button on the back acts the same as the green button on DSLRs, with the Exposure Lock button it gives access to all exposure modes from HyperManual: Press IF gives you the program line, press exp lock locks that Tv & Av pairing, then spinning either dial (with exp comp active) goes into Tv or Av modes respectively maintaining the Tv/Av paired exposure value.

You can also shift the auto bracketing with exp comp, the three exposure values move along the number line so you can shoot 0, +1, +2 or 0, -2, -4 instead of -1, 0, +1 etc.

It's a fabulously versatile system.

Here is a link to the PZ-1P/Z-1P manual, it's a bit different from the older PZ-1/Z-1:

All help much appreciated. I'll give it a better try soon, hoping for a drier autumn and lots of colour in the leaves.

Thanks, I have a lot to learn about this camera. The user function list looks a bit daunting when first seen.
Page 21 and 90 offer options.

Essentially if you know how many exposures are on the roll - turn auto rewind off and manually rewind when you get there or just before if you’re really worried.

I know the pz-1p is slightly different but I think the pf functions are the same that are involved.
