Yeah, I actually got back into film a decade ago because I was looking into stereo photography. I've never pulled the trigger on stereo yet, but was looking at stereo cameras and resources again last month,

It’s too bad Pentax never made anything to use to shoot stereo...

Oh, wait, they did...

Though it’s a bit weird on digital, in my experience...

We should not forget b&w reversal film, currently there are two options:

Adox Scala 160
Foma Fomapan R100

Both are slightly cheaper than their colour counterparts, but processing is problematic. You either buy the special home processing kits or send it in to the couple places worldwide that can develop b&w reversal film.

These places offer a B&W slide development service:

- dr5, Stuart, Iowa, USA (via mail)
- Klaus Wehner, Paderborn (per mail-order) with DMAX guarantee >3.5
- Fotostudio 13, Stuttgart (local drop of or via mail)
- Foto Fehling, Bergmannstrasse, Berlin (Local drop off)
- ARKALAB, Paris (local drop off)
- Foto Leutner, Vienna (Austria)
- Agenzia Luce (Italien)

Although not a true reversal film, ADOX Silvermax 100 is also very nice as a positive. I've only used DR5 for b&w reversal processing, so I can't vouch for the others.

I only develop black and white as well. Mostly Fomapan Classic 100 in rodinal. I'd like to shoot more tmax 400 but the chem that I like developing in doesn't last like rodinal does. What's your go-to black and white film?
In the past I used Ilford XP2 for the convenience of processing at a commercial lab, but I have processed FP4 and HP5 myself and ended up with much less film damage despite my lack of experience. Using a film bag is a pain, though. I mainly miss the magic of doing my own B&W prints.

Slide is also what you need if you do stereo. Not that many people do stereo any more, but you can still get it processed and mounted by sending it away to a few places.
Does no one offer transparencies as output from digital workflow? And wouldn't VR headgear skip that step?

Are there digital stereo cameras, and are they at a consumer level?

Panasonic has a lens dedicated to it. 12.5mm f12 3d lens. It isn't the best but it is cheap.

GoPro has a cheap 3d add on. Fuji w3 is an expensive option but perhaps cheap for the results. Panasonic has lenses for their camcorders.

Olympus em5 apparently can generate 3d files from 2d lenses. Not clear how this works.

I have a a Panasonic point-and-shoot from 2012 that has a 3D mode that was meant to be viewed on one of their 3D televisions.

That was a thing for a few years...

I’ve had better luck making prints from my K1 with a Pentax stereo adapter and viewing them with a 100-year old viewer...

I wonder if the sensor can shift enough in Pentax bodies to create a 3D effect - first shot sensor all the way to left - second shot sensor all the way to the right. With color filtering and multi-exposure you could even make an in-camera anaglyph 3D shot. It wouldn't work on moving subjects though.

My little Panasonic makes the photographer shift to one side slightly, IIRC.

That could be implemented fairly easily, but I don’t think the sensor has enough travel.

On film, the images are usually at least 6cm apart or so.

That said, a sensor that could move 6cm would also be cool for other reasons

Really? For sheet film I'm only finding Fuji Provia 100F and Velvia 100/50.

Some other long shelf life, one-shot developers include: HC 110 (can be used one-shot), D-23 and PMK Pyro. D-23 you mix yourself. It is only two chemicals. It's easier than mixing the DIY coffee developers.
