Well it's arrived - in reasonable condition and it seems to work. The zoom is acceptable condition but rather droopy - gravity doesn't help. Will have to look up how to fix that....

I wonder if the designers of that lens ever considered that somebody would want to use it 30 years in the future.

I have that lens and it is remarkably good. If yours is in good condition you can expect pictures like this. Hand held with a K5

I posted this image on the A lenses thread taken with that zoom, although on a K-3 not a film camera. Given it was hand-held on a ship, I was quite pleased with how it came out.

My first SLR was and is the ME Super. Its fun to use and once you get it hashed out its worth all the worries I had about how to correctly use it.It still takes great sharp images for a old gal and like I said its a lot of fun to use.

Super Program for $21! DANG!!! Well done!

The MES is a great camera, the viewfinder is amazing
I didn't pay much attention to it in the 80s, the butttons didn't do it for me but after I got one from a friend I fell in love with it

I also have an MEF but don;t have the monster lens

Still have my Pentax Me Super and it works, although it needs new light seals and the LEDs jump around unless I work the exposure compensation dial back and forth a few times. I had it since I bought it in December, 1983.

It has been serviced at least four times by a local repairman who was around for decades until 10 years ago he retired.

Also, it sure needs a new case for the old one is cracked and falling apart.

The tip I got was to work some cleaning alcohol into that area. I had the same problem and a bit of that and some continuous turning of the dials seems to have removed whatever corrosion spots were in there.

My wife bought her ME super used in 1986. She used it all the time for 10 years straight, and off and on for another four or five because I bought her a new slr with auto focus and wind. Never had any issues with it in any way, shape, or form. I pulled it out of storage a month or so ago, put new batteries in it, and it works great. Never been CLA'd. I did notice that the film door seals are really gummy, so at least that needs to be done. Even though she uses a dslr now, I doubt she will ever part with her Super.
