Pentax S

Hi all, new to the forum and wanted to share something with you all. I collect vintage cameras and picked up a box of old cameras from a thrift store today. I had no idea how rare the Pentax S camera was until I looked it up. This one is very mint and I’m excited to own it. Just wondering if the lens that goes with it is correct for this camera.

Thanks!

nice! what a beauty! appears in fantastic shape

I do not know for a fact but my guess it is.....rather rare to see a preset tak which certainly would go along with a meterless body...whereas the auto/manual variety would be matched to a metered body

The only screwy cameras I own are the Spotmatics. If it's anything like that in terms of handling I'm extremely jealous

The only cameras I'm ever able to find at thrift shops these days seem to be old Kodaks that are falling apart and plenty of Chinons.
Congrats on the find! Welcome to Pentaxia.

Congrats on the find! Welcome to Pentaxia.
Gotta keep an eye out, I myself just found a minty AE-1 after finding much junk.

I do and I was of course exaggerating, but more than anything I just don't have the patience for thrift hunting. I get bored with it incredibly quickly. My loss.

To me the one diamond in the rough is worth the many many weeks of trash

You lucked out with that one! Yes, the 55mm f2.2 is the correct lens. Both the lens and the camera are quite rare. I have the same setup, but the seller never sent me the case.

Just saw a video about that camera on Youtube by one our own forum members David Hancock (dont remember his forum username though).

Here's the video:

Welcome and congratulations! What a find that was! I have the same setup, but unfortunately the wind-on is broken and unrepairable.

Nice find, it is a cool item to have. I would recommend a full CLA to keep it working for years to come.
As for lens there were two lens that were standards: One is the fairly common Takumar 55mm f2.2 and the other is the very rare Takumar 55mm f1.8

Welcome to the forum. This forum is trying to collect all 4000 Pentax S models. You have fullfilled an important quest! Mine is currently lost in bubble wrap somewhere after a move.

Nice looking camera. I kind of want it but then quickly realize that I need another film body like I need a hole in the head.

I too haunt the thrift stores and pawn shops around me and am familiar with the mountains of trash with the occasional good find.
