Paying too much for sentimentality: Pentax auto 110

Hi all!

I just paid almost $80 for a complete Pentax auto 110 kit.

Three lenses, winder, flash, complete filter set, hoods, and manual in original box. Box victim of a little maltreatment.

This was a completely emotional, hankering for bygones type purchase.

I bought that same kit in 1978, and have always regretted selling it.

I doubt that I am going to use the body much, but the lenses will be adapted to my Q and m4/3 bodies.

I've also got my eye on a 70 mm, which I never had, back in the day. Serious hoarding tendencies?

So, what I meant to ask you guys was: do you think I paid to much for sentimental reasons, or could this be considered a correct pricing, with facts alone in mind?

Thanks/Erik

For a complete set - $80 are you kidding ? I'd have bought it and I'm not a huge fan of 110 film. Given that the film stock is available I'd have definitely bought it :-)

Pricewise I'd day for a full kit it was a bargain.

At this point it's a collector's item, and $80 is not too much for that. It's 2020---$80 bucks just ain't that much----it translates to just over $20 in 1978 dollars.

Thanks guys!

Exactly what I wanted to hear!

So, you think I should go for the 70mm at around $25?

Thanks/Erik

Hmmm, then I would only be missing the 20-40, the 18 Pan Focus, and the Soligor 1.7x tele converter...

Thanks/Erik

If you want it and can afford it, suppress that buyer's remorse.

I am not a hoarder. It just looks that way.

Thanks/Erik

You'll need a set of Lensbaby aperture disks to work with a range of apertures other than wide open. These cost less than $10 (in the UK) and fit perfectly into the Fotodiox PTX 110 P/Q lens mount adapter.

Absolute bargain. I got the same lot (without box) for about that price. I will never use the body but the lenses (plus the close up filters) were worth it.

Isn’t paying too much basically the definition of sentimentality?

But I’ve spent more for less...

I collect Pentax oddities. I paid around $300 for the deluxe set of all the lenses, filters and accessories, complete in near mint condition box and including the (awful design) briefcase in its original cardboard shipping sheath and 3 expired rolls off 110 film. I thought my price was fair. I think your price is more than fair.

Wow. Thanks for the input from all of you! It feels good to know that I didn't overpay, even though I'm not going to resell it. They'll probably have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

I don't think I can remember any briefcase. The set I bought in '78 was just in the red box. No briefcase.

Meanwhile, I've ordered a pair of m4/3 adapters from China. And, somewhere, I've got an Agfa color negative film which I got on a flea market together with an Agfa sensor pocket camera...

Thanks, and a nice Sunday to all/Erik
