Pentax 6x7 mystery part

On my recently acquired 6x7, it appeared to be missing the plastic button for the mirror reset. I could activate the reset using a stiff piece of wire, but don't like missing pieces. Called Advance Camera to ask if they might have the part, the store's owner (the only one working because of Covid-19) said he had a parts body that had the plate with the button that would need too be changed out. Went in the morning, he replaced the plate/button took about 10 mins, looks like it should now. He said the odd thing is the hole on the original is threaded, like for a cable release. Said he'd never seen that before on a 6x7, also mentioned it's the first 6x7 with the multi-exposure modification he'd seen also. It does fit a cable release and the only reference I can find on the internet is there was a "non-powered Bulb exposure" modification available for astrophotography, but don't know how it would be used though.

Any ideas ?

I can't tell from your photo but it looks to be a long exposure mode for astrophotography. Aftermarket types were available at one time.

Thank you, that explains it. Good to know, the plate is easy enough to reinstall if I ever decide to do astrophotography with film.

Interesting... does this allow an unmodified camera to shoot on B without a battery? Sounds like it may by 'utilising' the mirror reset procedure - not that I'm suggesting it is a good idea...
