Finding battery for SP1000 in retail stores (U.S.)?

I am looking for the 380's or 390's series of batteries for the SP1000 that fell into my lap last year - time to get it rolling..!

I do not seem to find the battery for it, presumably the 387S, and not even its close cousin the 386 in stores near me (U.S.).

Where do you get yours?

Try a store that carries high end watches. They are made for Bulova Accutron watches. "Classic high end watches". They are available also on Amazon and ebay.

It is not easy to go to specialty shops right now.

I may try a 357 with spacer, like some folks here have used on Spotmatics.

Or forgo aging on-board metering and use hand meter?

Pharmacy will have hearing aid battery’s.
They last up to 4m in temperate clime, but can leak even in service.
The may not be happy servicing a hobby...

I am confused as to which type of hearing aid batteries is needed or is compatible.

Could you clarify, please?

Hi Jay,

The 387S is the battery you need.* It is what I use for my Spotmatics and combines a plastic collar and a 394 silver-oxide button cell. Both Renata and Energizer brands are readily available, but probably not in a local store. If you have a Batteries + Bulbs store near you, they may have them in stock. Otherwise, Amazon and several other vendors have them available online. Price should be between $3 and $5 USD.

Once you have the plastic collar, you just need to replace the 394 and not the full assembly.

Steve

* Zinc air cells (Wein and hearing aid batteries) will provide a the same voltage as the original mercury cell, but have limited life once opened. The Spotmatic meter is not voltage sensitive such that 1.55V silver-oxide cells such as the 387S work just fine for almost all shooting situations. Silver-oxide will last a year under average usage.

I was in a Walgreen's last week and they had all types of 375's, 386's, etc. Same with CVS.

The hearing aid batteries are zinc air cells there are four sizes I bought a pack of each.
You may be able to size them by eye!
You may need a set of plumbers O rings to locate them!
I don’t have your SP sorry!
In a camera they last 2-4 months after you remove the tab!
Some one may tell you the size...
