Who is going to sit down, measure gears, levers, etc. and then draw them up so they can be re-manufactured? No, it's not easy to make a K1000. It's a lot of work.

It just occurred to me that the Chinese are still making a fairly faithful derivative, I think under the Mingca label and maybe a couple of others.

If it's anything like it was a few years back on a thread on here, the names might be : Luxor Super 1000, Maginon K 1000, Optium MC K 1000 and / or Spender FMC-970.

I wonder if any of those are still in production today. Would be interested in shooting a few rolls through a "brand new K1000" to see what they're like. I don't have great expectations but they might be one of those cameras that lasts decades with little care.

Here is a Luxon Super 1000 : Luxon super 1000 35mm film camera. Vintage although... - Depop

It looks superior to the K1000 in at least one respect - it has a self-timer. It is not completely like a KM though, as it has no film label holder on the back. Goodness knows how reliable it is though.
