I just traded a bunch of BW400CN for other film. Now that I am developing B&W film at home using the super easy Cinestill DF96 Monobath chem, I much prefer the look of 'real' silver halide B&W film to C41 process stuff.
With BW400, I find I can get the same look by shooting regular colour print and then converting it to B&W. Upsides are this way I have colour and B&W, and it's cheaper.

Still have more BW400 in my freezer.

I mostly use Ektar for colour print which is slower, and just as expensive. I use more traditional BW stuff for many things, but the BW400CN had a niche which it filled nicely. Funnily enough, I never got on with XP2 Super so well, although I mainly use Ilford BW films. Back in the 1980s I used to use XP1 whenever I needed 1600ASA and it was great. I have some lovely images of a school play taken using it.

One can always hope though..

Didn't I use the keyword...................."dream"???? Hoping just might not cut it!

Yes, indeed - I shot Kodachrome for 30 years, and after one bad experience, only Kodak was allowed to process it! Remember the mailers? Your heart always dropped a bit when you put it in the mail, hoping there would be no disasters until you got your slides back.

Yet another BW400CN fan here. I'd love to see it return so I can take double exposures with my MIJ film *ist.

Shot that stock with a K1000 for a while from 2005 to 2012.

One of my favorite shots with BW400CN, taken with a SMC Pentax-A 35-80mm F4-5.6 lens, K1000 and Vivitar 2000 bounce flash.

Yep for sure and amazingly never had any issues with any missing rolls in the mail. The Kodachrome film I purchased here in Vancouver had the mailers going to the Kodak processing lab in New Jersey. I don't think there were any here in Canada.

For many years the ones in the UK went to Harrow. Funnily enough Kodak's main UK base was not far from Pentax House. Then they went to Switzerland where there was a definite drop off in quality. At the end one posted them to the address in Switzerland but they were then shipped off to Dawyne's.

I had one roll that went missing. I gave up on it but six months or so later it just turned up. I suspect it fell down the back of a cabinet!

I'll add to the list of fans of the 400CN.

After my recent experience with the new Ektachrome (the cost and hassle, no issues with the film), I'm not excited about another Ektachrome.

No way it's Kodachrome...

Maybe some Ektar 25? Hard to shoot, but I liked the results when I got it right...

Verichrome Pan? Some of the best skin tones I've ever seen in a B&W film...

I'll never use BW400CN because I have my own darkroom but I'm sure it will be the film that Kodak re-releases. Most of the younger guys getting into film these days don't develop their own film so it will be ideal for them and profitable for Kodak. If the BW400CN prediction is right, I'm sure the second new film will be colour, maybe another Ektachrome?

A faster version of Ektachrome would be nice, like 200/400 ISO.

That would be a market niche that Kodak would own, as there are no 200/400 ISO E6 films being produced right now that I know of.

I think Rollei CR200 might still be in production but it probably doesn't count as it's a terrible emulsion. Good dynamic range for reversal film but no one will ever say it has even passable colour accuracy.

Ektachrome Prof., 160T and 100 daylight (EPN) would be my choices.
--The 160T was a fantastic general purpose film, filtered for daylight and only lost 2/3 stop, and it seemed to me to have about 1 stop wider DR than others. The ideal film for trips carrying only one camera for night, museums, dark churches, to full sun.
--The EPN had colors to die for.

That’s funny. I always hated EPN colors

It was too accurate, too subtle. I liked Velvia back then. Everything in FULL COLOR!
And i shot it at ISO 50, not 32 (all the cool kids overexposed it a bit) because I loved the saturation.
Agfa slide film was a happy medium for me. Less in your face than the Velvia, more punch than EPN, and a stop faster than the Fuji.

If I wanted subtle, I really liked Fuji Reala print film. Terrible for air shows, great for weddings. Not as yellow as VPS...

I've seen the Rollei online but never tried it. Wasn't sure about it and now I know.

Thanks, Phil.
