Jackpot

I picked up this near mint SPII yesterday. I thought it came with the 7 element ST 50 1.4, but was pleasantly surprised when I looked down and saw the 1.4 V1 ST, even the orange paint still looks bright. this must have been one of the later V1 lens according to the serial number. The meter works and I have a roll of film in it now.

Once upon a time, I collected the Super-Multi-Coated Taks. I had a S-M-C 50mm f/1.4 - loved it!
One day I bought a box with a bunch of camera gear.
I kept what I wanted and sold the rest, including selling Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 (I already had a 50 and I only really collected the S-M-C versions....)
To my dismay, after learning about the coveted '8-element', I looked at the old pictures and indeed I had sold an 8-element lens :'(
Maybe I'll find another one in the wild again... one day.

Score! I happen to have that exact same camera, also in beautiful black, which is not that common. I love it! I will have to look for a 50/1.4 to complement it though. At the moment I have the 55/1.8 and a 150/4, both of which are great. But that 50/1.4 is legendary, so I just gotta see what all the fuss is about :-)

Great find Derek!

Best,
Svend

Ah, the memories: have fun, I'm always pleased to hear of these classics still being used to make photos!

Very nice! Where did you find that beauty? Every black Pentax I see on the bay looks like it was dragged over ten miles of bad road.

I bought it from a lady who said it was her dad's. It was in the original case with strap.

Would it be too much trouble to ask if you could upload a picture of your black SPII to flickr?
I'd love to have in the camera-wiki page of the Spotmatic with credits to you
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Looks like dad knew how to take care of his equipment!
