Winder for MX = ME?

Is the Winder for Pentax MX , the same as ME? Inter-usable?

Been searching around, but seems that there are more Winder-MEs around as compared to those for MX.

THanks all in adv

The Winder MX differs from the Winder ME and Winder MEII.

It happens I just found out about this, (happen to want for a little film backup for a Pentax digital, and I just kind of like those winders) it's due to a slight difference in the shape of the body between the MX and ME's.

If you find a working Winder MX make sure the screw fastener for the AA battery holder isn't stripped, a common problem.

Also note that the foam lining at the end of the battery chamber decays in much the same way as the foam on film doors and mirror bumpers - easy to remove, though.

My winder screw actually sheared off in the flimsy door, which had a crack when it arrived from an ebay seller. With some creative dis-and-re-assembly, i installed some lithium AA's, fastened the door with a chopped down bolt, and screwed the top plate on. 2 of the original screws are in a container until I can find a more permanent solution, but the whole thing holds up quite well.

If the batteries die, I have to unbolt the top plate to get at the bolt head holding the door shut.

The pressure on that little door is quite strong for the plastic hardware they use.

no they are most certainly different. if you need a winder MX I have a late model (more plastic) version I could sell you. perfect working order, cosmetically excellent. PM if you are interested. for future reference, nothing that I am aware of is interchangeable between the MX and any of the other M series cameras. the 'M' is the only thing the MX shared with th rest. it was built on older (in most ways) technology than the rest of the series and a completely different chassis.
