Asahiflex I or Ia

Hi all,

I've recently had the pleasure of shooting an Asahiflex IIB (with the instant return mirror) - what an incredible treat!
I absolutely love the workmanship and the solid build and feel.
And those M37 Takumars lenses are heavy! Weigh almost as much as the camera! /s
I was ignorant to how the pop-up waist-level viewfinder actually worked with the side flaps and little magnifier glass.
Now having seen it in person, I am even more impressed with the Asahiflex and the origins of Pentax.

My question I'm wondering: Does anyone here on the forums still shoot with their Asahiflex I or Ia?
With the semi-auto 'quick return mirror' how are you finding the camera?
In the modern era, and specifically using such vintage film equipment, a 'nicety' such as full auto mirror return doesn't seem like too much importance haha

Let me know what you think!

I'm patiently hunting. Perhaps not as often as I would like, but once I get one, it will be used.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing one in person. Neat that you got to shoot one.
