Uh, oh.

Very nice little camera, that Sightseer, though. For 'low-tech,' that's one of the nicest microprisms I have used, and I do like a nice microprism.

The shutter release took some getting used to, for me: this one seemed rather designed to ameliorate the effects of someone jabbing or snapping it: I think I prefer a cleaner 'break,' there, so I can feel precisely where it's going to go. I do wonder when they may have started putting shutter locks on them, cause I wonder if a mini-soft release might help bypass that issue, if I ever get a screwmount body, but those are very prone to accidental firing.

I think the lock came in on the Spotmatic F. Can't swear to it. Soft release and a lock will do it.

For me that would be a necessity. Racking the next "round" after a shot is... well... a habit I probably never will break.

What can I say? Dad was a photojournalist. I learned by watching him. Can't miss that next shot messing about with the winder...

woof!

The Spot F was the first unless there is some rare Mongolian military version of the SP IIa that I don't know about.

Edit: The only other Pentax screw mount with the lock is the ES II.

Just to prove that the Sightseer is actually here and touring the region. Here is a picture of the SV taking in the Columbia River Gorge...snap, snap...

Steve

(No, that is not a studio shot with a printed backdrop! It just looks that way! K10D, FA 35/2, on-board flash for fill...)

Steve,

That tripod looks iffy. You should send it to me so that I can verify that it is up to standards.

Yes, the tripod is so very rickety. Can I help it if the Sightseer is also a bit of a risk taker? To make matters worse, the tripod is set up at the edge of a 230 foot sheer cliff.

Steve

(No railing...)

That, Steve, is a 'beauty shot' of our dear friend the Sightseer.

Nope, it's Fred Bird, an overweight giant Cardinal, hehe

It has been almost two weeks and the Sightseer is beginning to tire of SE Washington and the Portland, Oregon area. I think I heard it humming "Meet me in St. Louis"...

Steve

(Will try and pack it up today to send on to the St. Louis crew...)

Think we could probably get a few Toronto people on board, I'll ask a couple friends if they're interested in sharing it for a couple days and splitting shipping costs to the next location
