sightseer arrived safe and sound. she is sitting next to my own SV with film already loaded.

I will probably not get to take her out for the first time until tomorrow or the next day, but I plan on picking up some Ektar and Tri-X tomorrow.

that Sekonic is a tiny bugger, I think I will be using my Studio-Deluxe II.

I actually didn't use the meter, myself, but that was cause I didn't have the stuff to repair the case flap (Or i would have offered to do that, ) and never got round to finding something else to carry it in.

) I used various meters and eyeballed quite a few shots.

There's more images to come, btw, I'm just letting the negs flatten while I cope with a sniffle, here.

Yes... Sekonic L-8 added for vintage flavor and for those who do not have a meter. Frankly I love vintage feel of the cameras, etc., but I use a digital Sekonic 308 Flashmate. Cost me $149.00 and it is DEAD accurate. Makes a great flash meter as well. Absolutely would not leave home without it.

I was thinking about picking up an old Gossen Pilot as that was the meter I learned on, but they really are not so great on low light situations. I imagine the old L-86Sekonic is not much better, but I am tempted to purchase one of these and send it along to the next recipient... Those downstream of the camera, let me know how you are fixed for a meter. if there are enough folks without one, I'll probably get one of these. Easier and much more straightforward to use than the L-8 that is currently with the camera...

Speaking of Pilots, you know what seems pretty neat? The current Sekonic Twinmate. I've kind of been eyeing them, (I'd like something I could wear on a cord around my neck without it being too big, when running around with the meterless cameras I have. Haven't tried one personally, but they're smaller, and powered. Kind of a bit retro-styled, though plastic. (but a little more EV range.)

Aaand, I forget what else I was thinking. Apart from asking if anyone had tried one.

Yes! They are tiny really. I have been considering one of those as well. You know, they come with a flash shoe adapter so you can position them on your hot/cold shoe. Perfect. Any Sekonic I have ever used has been really quite good. I am sure this is not an exception.

Mike Cash has one. Perhaps he can give us his impressions.

I also considered a twin mate for my SV, but in the end decided I didn't want to make the camera look foolish, and make my self look more 'pro' by walking around with a light meter around my neck. If I want to ruin the lines of the SV I will just get the Asahi Pentax meter designed for it.

I'm in the same boat...sigh...

$175 or so for a decent flatbed photo scanner
$350 or so for the dedicated film scanner that I'm most interested in

no joke there. I had to actually read the instructions to figure out what the heck I was looking at! with my SDII I just took it out of the box and it was self explanatory.

I don't know, I think having light meter around your neck makes you look 'pro' the same way carrying a 5D and a honking big off white L lens does. no? I carry mine like this guy, around the neck stashed in the front pocket...hrmm maybe its just because of the marlboro man look, the 6x7 and ridiculously big lens...
