Was this the 55 as well? With the aperture and extra image (vs APS), one really gets a better feel for the dof on more distanct subjects. Not sure if thats the lens going a bit soft on the right edge and corners, but it seems to work with the dof to frame the tree. And fwiw, I think the scratches and dust actually add to it as well. It makes the whole thing feel vintage or something. Probably as many people photoshop that kind of thing in as they do out these days.

hi kelly

that tree shot was taken with a Sigma 18mm f2.8 @ f4 or f8

however as you can see it is SUPER soft in the corners, now i understand why something like the Ziess 18mm F3.5 commands such a high price, my sigma set me back a mere 140!

however i am not liking HP5, in fact i do not like any of the illford stuff i have used, maybe its just that i'm still learning and getting the exposures/focus wrong, but still.

that sigma is really soft in the corners, i didn't expect it to be that soft.

i generally like ilford films, i've tried ilford XP2, 400 ASA B&W C-41 process film, and i like it very much - probably because it's the only B&W film my scanner can actually scan correctly.
also, i have ilford delta 3200 film in my P5, 6 more shots to go, we'll see how does that film looks like..

Pentax MX, smc-M 50mm f/2, wide open
Ilford XP2 400 ASA
(dirty scanner, low-res scan, clicky for bigger one)
