I know this is a Pentax forum but the Cannon AE would work for you

If you're referring to the AE-1, that's shutter-priority only. He is looking for aperture-priority.

The P30 (Ithink it's a P30 anyway) will do that. And they also do fully manual or fully auto too.
They are a nice camera, and generally cheap as chips too on fleabay.

My Mz-50 and previous P30 have Tv, Av,M modes to set fixed aperture and adjust speed for correct exposure.

The P30 doesn't support aperture priority. The P30n and P30t do.

You can also consider the Canon New F-1 with an AE winder FN or with an AE Finder FN (Just got me a Spotmatic SPII with a Super-Multi-Coated 1.4)

If one were to go non Pentax and non m42 vintage 35mm, the Mamiya NC1000 and NC100s are tough to beat body wise and the CS lenses are very nice optically. That's my counter to the Canon.
