Replace parts

i have a Pentax ME and the Exposure Compensation Dial is tilted (i think it was dropped in its head). i just bought a camera just like it on ebay for replacement parts. i was able to remove the Film Rewind from both cameras but not the Dial. How do i extract this part? seems imposible.
any help is greatly appreciated. going crazy without my camera.

There is a special nut that holds the dial in place. It will have a small notch on each side and fits around the center shaft. It can be removed with needlenose pliers .

Here is the dial with the retaining nut set as it would be on camera.

The little notches accept a tool called a spanner. But you can easily improvise something, as long as it fits the slots. Something like needlenose pliers or tweezers with the tips ground down or dividers or two small screwdrivers.
