New Member of the Family

My latest member of the Pentax family arrived in the mail yesterday.

I snagged it in an Ebay auction last week for $39.
It is in pretty good shape and came with a 'cold shoe' clip, lens cap and leatherette case.
I changed the light seals last night so it's all ready for a test roll.

My first Spotmatic; I'm so proud.

Yep, it is pretty clean; a very decent working example of a Spotmatic SP. They were manufactured from 1964 until 1967. I think this is an early model as the serial number is 1444600. Pentax started the numbers at 1000000.

The light meter is functioning. The camera came with a battery and the needle does move. There is a 1.5 volt 'Varta 394' battery in the battery compartment. I'll check it's accuracy with my Sekonic meter this weekend.

New Spotmatic and Takumar

Beautiful, classic camera. We walk along the same path - here is my 1-week-old addition (getting out to shoot this weekend as light is supposed to be good). I hope my eyes become level while I sleep tonight

That would have been a steal!
The 50mm f1.4 is supposed to be the better lens as compared to the 55 f1.8.

I understand they were both kit lenses but the 50/1.4 was sold as a "pro" lens (to people who had more money) I once had a K2 with a 55/1.8 that I sold because I didn't know what it was.

Ok ...maybe I do have the better lens.
I don't have the 50mm f1.4 to compare but I'll certainly give this lens a whirl!
