I shot a test roll of Kodak Ultramax 400 over the weekend to test for vingetting with a Fotodiox 52mm reversible flower petal hood on the K28/3.5. I'm good with it and not bad for a sub-$10 hood. Concept is a threaded filter ring/adapter to screw into your lens and then the hood attaches to the mount with spring-loaded detents/bearings. It will spin however you want it, so it doesn't lock into place or a specific orientation.

First time I've shot an entire roll with a single lens. Only place I could get a quick turnaround on the developing and scans was Indie Photo on Girard Ave in Philadelphia. They had the roll developed and scanned in about two hours. Scans are high res on the Fuji SP-3000 Frontier. Color and saturation on this film is pretty good for a $2.99/roll stock.

It seems there is a bit of vignetting, but it's kind of nice... Did you find the hood made a difference? K 28 3.5 is one of my favourite lenses. If anything (like a hood) can make it even better, I am game

I noticed that as well, but it's darkening in the corners where there are gaps in the hood being a flower petal style. I haven't shot enough with the K28/3.5 to say, but I like what I got from this roll. Here are two shots of my kids from the same roll. I don't see much (if any) vignetting on these two frames. I'm going to run a bunch of Tri-X and Portra through two bodies over the next few weeks. We'll see if there are consistencies. I'm irritated with myself that I forgot about the crippled mount on my ZX-30 that I can't use the K28/3.5 on it because it only works with lenses that have an A setting on the aperture ring. Limited to the F50/1.7 there. The ZX-5 works with the K28 though. I was just hoping to have dedicated bodies for B&W and color.

Finally got around to developing a bunch of film that I shot almost 3 years ago, this first one remains to this day the most dramatic sunset I can recall seeing.

That's an awesome sunset! Would loved to have seen the first one captured without the P&S or cellphone photographer in it.

Double your Pentax, double your fun.
This is a single I picked out from a film-swap collaboration with Efrain Bojorquez and the Film Shooters Collective.

Ya that was the one bummer about shooting those, I did get one that had the kid a bit more isolated from the cellphone photographer, but the clouds weren't quite as sharp. Needless to say I'm happy I got around to developing them, I was worried they wouldn't turn out as I was shooting kodak ektar 100, but accidentally exposed all of them at iso 400.

I'd say it worked out. I have Ektar 100 in my KM now, metered at 64.

It's amazing what a bit of Photoshop "clone and replace" can do.

I too feel that first image is very dramatic -- the young girl really makes the shot by perching somewhat dramatically on that fence rail. The second shot seems static and almost uninteresting, by comparison.

I found it quite interesting that jtkratzer and I came to identical conclusions regarding the person on the edge of the frame. A bit of judicious cropping might help, and also as much cloning as is necessary.
