Re: the Mirabella V, well, I'm glad to know my guess about the divot was on target. Correct on the name change -- it was changed to M5 after it was sold to Rodney Lewis.
Geez, actually a 254 ft long sloop-rigged yacht! Wow. ("sloop rigging" basically uses a single mast, a mainsail rigged aft of the mast, tied to a boom, with a jib sail forward of the mast). Just to put things in perspective, I've been on a four-masted ship that was only a bit longer than this yacht. Here's a pic of the 4-master Rella Mae with a sloop in the foreground. The Rella Mae is a 282 ft long dinner cruiser that sailed in Honolulu Bay. Her masts reach 131 feet above the water. Compare that with the Mirabella V's single mast that reaches 290 feet into the air -- over twice as high. The following photo was taken in 1984, Canon FTb, Sigma 600mm f/8, Kodachrome 64.
So, this puts things in a bit of perspective. We have a typically sized sloop-rigged yacht (probably 30 to 40 feet in length) in the foreground, and a four-master in the background that is only about 50 feet longer than the Mirabella V, which is rigged the same as this sloop in the foreground.
