It's the original cryllic writing of Zorki 4 and Jupiter-12

What? You can't transliterate Russian? I can't either, but through frequent exposure, I can read the names for commonly-encountered lens and cameras.

I am enjoying your recent photos with this pair. The J-12 deserves more exposure like this. It is a decent lens and a good match to your style. I was disappointed when I found it would not work on my Bessa R3m (rear element won't clear the outer shutter).

I can transliterate a lot of Japanese (hiragana and katakana, that is)... but it helps that none of their characters are very similar to the latin alphabet.

Can't say I've had enough exposure to Soviet equipment with Cyrillic characters to recognize names.

Thanks Steve.
I wasn't too sure about the J-12 at first when I got it a few years ago, but this last roll it really surpassed my expectations. It's a bit fiddly, but I love the results.
I just saw some photos from an R3A and J-12, are you certain it doesn't work on the R3M? I know it won't fit on the R and R2...
I just ordered an original Soviet 3.5cm auxiliary finder for using the J-12 on my Zorki 4. You have a nice FED 2 if I recall correctly?

Thanks for the report regarding the R3A + J-12. I am going from stuff I have read on the Web, but haven't actually tried to see if it mounts clean. It is easy enough to check with the back door open and shutter open on "B". Supposedly it won't fit on my Canon P either, but don't tell that to the "P". I will give it a look-see when I finish the roll that is in the camera. The R3M does not have 35mm frame lines, but rumor is that the viewfinder edges are close enough for rangefinder photography

Yes, I do have a FED-2 (ca 1963 type D6) in very good condition and also a Zorki 4K in excellent shape. I like the FED-2 better though and actually prefer the knob wind to the lever on the Zorki 4K.

I have a few medium format pinhole shots that have been filed away for a while as I had no decent way of scanning them, so I got myself a v550 today (I know not the best but I reckon it will do for my needs).

Shot with a noon 6x12 pinhole camera on Bergger pancro 400.

I like this very much. I keep thinking of trying some pinhole stuff, but never quite get around to it.

Thanks, its worth a go, even just with one of the pinhole lens caps on a digital body, just dont expect any sort of sharpness. On 120 film it starts to make a bit more sense.
A refreshingly low tech approach to photography.
