We set it up with a spinnaker, new main and some head sails plus rigging for some local club racing. I had a 22-foot and moved up to this and it was bare-bone stock. That's what was its appeal. We could rig it the way we wanted.

An old Vericolor VPH 400 sample. This stuff looks more like 800 film up close.

X-post with MF thread. But, man, what a difference this Vericolor 160 VPS is over the VHC and VPH. Much finer grain and smother tonaliity over all, I'd say. VPS was pretty much replaced by Portra 160NC after the this.

Flash back to the introduction of the new 747-400 in 1989. NW Airlines was the launch customer for Boeing's new 747-400. And this plane was among the first block to be delivered to them in Aug 1990. For Boeing, the introduction of the 747-400 was hell. They had bitten off more than they could chew on a 3-day rate. Hardly any two planes were configured the same interior-wise and it was a constant learning curve for much of the final assembly areas that were plagued with build and design errors. Planes were going out final assembly uncompleted and they were packed out on the tarmac anywhere there was room. And for each day the plane was late for delivery, the more of a contractual discount the customer got off the plane's sticker price.

Bedwell Harbour Customs Dock.

One of my favourite film shots from Gulf Islands sailing, late 1990's.

Have to find the negative of this one to make a better image, this is a print scan I already had on my computer.

Would have been my ME, looks like probably my M50 F2, and I think I was mostly shooting Fuji around that time.
The golden hour.

Yeah. I recall the talk back then that Kodak expected you to use Portra 160NC as a replacement for the flesh tones in 160 VPS. But that example I posted sure looks more glossy and VC than NC. Some of my color negatives from this period are getting brown spots in them.

Someone mentioned Solaris a couple of pages earlier. I am just scanning my first ever roll of expired Ferrania Solaris and it seems to be an "acquired taste", let me put it this way... Or maybe I am not hipster enough

At this point, any Ferrania Solaris would be nearly 10 years old, so how it has aged will change the results. I shot a roll last year, and while the Ferrania colors were there, the film base was not the color/density it should have been, and so the tonal range of the film was quite a bit reduced compared to what it would have been.
Ferrania Solaris was a more "grainy" film to begin with, but with age and expiration, I would bet it has become even more grainy looking.

I would have been about 12 years old then and my mind was far away from film and color palettes.

It is fairly grainy. The colours are yellow - brown, with reds really standing out. I'll post some tonight when I get to the computer.

Another old film. Ektar 125 Gen 1

SMC-A* 300/4 on either a K1000 or ME Super.

I have some 35mm negatives that have gotten yellow spots on them. Some are over 30 years old. I'm thinking it's some sort of growth -- like mould. Which has caused me to wonder -- if I soak them again, what's the likelihood that this will remove the spots? One thing I've recently learned about C41 film as a result of developing a few rolls, as opposed to regular B&W, you can't wipe the negative down. You have to let the water "sheet" off, using a stabilizer rinse that gives the film these properties. So I'm kind of doubtful I can remove these spots.
