They had all sort of weird things along that coast for everything up to and including the Tsunami warning systems.

Phil.
Indeed. There are a few lookouts scattered up and down it. It's hugely similar to the Island west coast, but the surf is crazier - it gets pounded with much larger waves and swells just due to the angle of the coast compared to Vancouver island.

Two shots that I took in Dallas, TX, USA last week. Sears KS-2 (a rebranded Ricoh XR-7) + Sears Auto 50mm f/1.7. Ilford FP4 film - first time shooting that particular formulation. I really like the results - lovely balanced tones and fine grain.

The smart phone isn’t about the writing, it’s a quick and easy way to make the note without having to keep track of cameras and lenses and such. For each shot I take my cell is in my hand for about two seconds unless I change a lens. As quick as possible then back in my pocket.

It is a lot like the area around Tofino. The lands and traditional cultures are much the same. The Makah people near Neah Bay and Shi Shi used to raid as far north as Tofino, Ucluelet, and Bamfield and the native peoples there returned the favor. Aside from logging, the coast on both sides of Straits of Juan de Fuca are both still quite wild and remote.

A friend passed away of cancer back in February. Most of his equipment was sold off, but I managed to get my hands on a Nikkormat he had owned. Meter seems flaky — at least 3 stops overexposure when I compared it to a handheld one — and I don't care for the collared shutter release Nikon was using at the time, but it's really more a sentimental piece of equipment than anything else.

Nikkormat FTn.
Nikkor-S Auto 50mm f1.4.
Fuji Superia 400.

Sorry to hear about your friend, Andrew.
The Nikkormats are cool cameras.
