Fuji Provia 100F

A few from my last trip to France. I like the Provia as much if not more than Velvia. The rolls are just a little bit too expensive...

I have been playing with split toning in LR as my printer gives a bloody color cast when printing in LR. A lot less in Qimage.

Cheers,

Luc

Luc, nice to see you back. Seems like you've been on hiatus for a while. Not sure if I'm sold on split toning but "chacun a son gout". That being said, the Provia looks great and the compositions always do.

Finally got a chance to shoot some film over the Thanksgiving holiday...

Kodak Gold 400, ME, SMC-A 28mm That's all I can remember other than both were low light, handheld shots. Scanned right to DVD at Costco. No prints made. Lotta grain but kind of neat.

Oh, Man! #2 is just aching for a good scan. I am not sure, but I think most of the graininess is artifact. If you were in the area, I would say "Come on over and lets see what we can do with you nice neg!"

@jheu02 and stevebrot: Even editing the existing scan can clean up the the image. I find that dark scenes processed in auto by photo labs often come out with the black levels way off. This is a quick change in levels with the low res file you posted:

Great shots again, Javier Were these 6x6?

You take so many black and white shots, you really ought to find a darkroom and start developing the stuff yourself!

KJon, I really like the shadows in your fourth picture. They really bring out the texture of the wall.

Why thank you MeFirstO and Javier, much appreciated

Here is an actual film shot. The sprocket damage is from a mistake loading the roll into the development reel.

I had something similar happen on a roll I developed recently. I really had a bear of a time getting the film on, probably because I didn't give the reel enough drying time between developments. I ended up cutting the sprocket holes off about 4 shots because they were so mangled I couldn't get it to sit flat for scanning. Hewes reels to the rescue!

Nesster I love the Fuji 160S as well.
jgredline I like your street work a lot, I wish I would be brave enough to try shoot like that.

Bellow there are a few from last roll of Fuji 160S I took a couple months ago.
Lab scaned.

Yes, it is an older model couple years back.I think 2002-ish. We were told, that Ferrari sold away some older F1 cars to private racers. There were quite a few on the event, so I couldn't resist.

Hello Kevin,

Thanks. Yes I have been to France at the end of Sep for 3 weeks then came back with a "few" rolls to process and then there was a death in my close family and I went back to France. I have not shot for several weeks since then and I am just starting to process photos from the trip now. I am sure that the pleasure to shoot will come back soon specially if I have less work to do...
So for now it is the scanner and the computer.

ps: and in the turmoils, while I was upgrading to Windows 7, I killed my backup and quite a few of my images got corrupted beyond redemption... That said I still like Windows 7...

I am NOT sold on the split toning either.

Cheers,

Luc

Luc, sorry to hear of your travails; both personal and photographic. On the bright side, if they were film scans that you lost, you at least have the negatives as a place to start again. Losing the backup must have been brutal - you think you're safe...

Condolences and best to you and yours,
Kevin

P. S. Looking forward to seeing some more shots from your trip when time and circumstances permit.
