I could never make that stuff work well, even when it was new...

The only Agfachrome that I got along with was the 100... I loved it in bulk.
Good color, good resolution.

I got some very nice shots with Agfachrome 1000 RS while it was still new. Photos taken during the collective marriage ceremonies at Imilchil, Morocco, in November 1985, Super A with M 50mm f/1.4. The second one is more grainy because it was underexposed (and both a littly blurry due to the forum software).

More expired Fuji Superia. It was nice of my friend to give me the roll for free, but mostly the experience has just left me missing Kodachrome even more.

And another. . .

Under what conditions was your Agfachrome RS1000 stored? I have some B&W Fuji 1600 that's been in my freezer for over 25 years, and I'm wondering what ISO I should use when I finally get around to shooting it. I also have a roll of color Konica 3200 that's just as old. I suppose it's just a guessing game as to what a working ISO would be?

Not sure how the film was stored before I got it, as I bought the film (10 rolls) from a forum member about five years ago. I have kept it the freezer/fridge since then.

What I did was sacrifice the first roll for testing and I shot a few pictures starting at 1000 ISO and then at every ISO setting down to 50 ISO. I then got the lab to process the roll normally. 100 ISO seemed to yield the best results, though the images are far from what the original Agfachrome would have looked like when it was fresh. I have used this film for testing new to me cameras since then.

I also have some original Agfa Scala 200 that I have not tested.

I wonder how much different B&W is from chromes, though. For instance, I had about 20 rolls of Plus-X Pan (ISO 125) that expired in 1983. This stuff was also in my freezer since the early 90s and the guy I bought it from claimed that he had kept it frozen. I started going through the brick about ten years ago, shooting at box speed. The negatives were thin, so what I did was compensate in development. I added 1 minute to development times. This helped greatly with the negative density.

So I'm thinking that, because of the nature of B&W film, I might not have to reduce the ISO as much as you did. I dunno if I might have to tweak it more because of its speed, and I guess I won't find that out until I test the stuff.

Yeah b&w film would most likely have less issues over time than a colour film.
