Yeah I'm also considering getting a Z-1P for the 1/8000 shutter speed.

Too many times I've not been able to shoot wide open with faster lenses, unless I was using a ND filter or very slow film or both. Then you run into the issue of the ND filter light loss and making it harder to focus.

Interesting points. I do have the Z-1P, but do not shoot film very much. However, I have been playing around with leaf shutter lenses with the 645D and 645Z. I do not know of any LS lenses for the film or digital K-mount cameras. I have had difficulty in getting good results with dark filters, mainly because of focussing problems.

Yeah I've had to use a tripod in those situations when the filter is very dark. I focus with the filter off, then screw it in and meter/shoot.

The Z-1p might not have the appeal of the classic manual focus Pentax cameras, but IMO it's a superb camera.

I have a Z-1 (not sure what the difference is between it and the "p") waiting for me at my parents' house, I've still to try it out. I like the SFXn despite it's quirks so I expect to like the Z-1p. I bought it specifically for the 1/8000s max shutter speed though my calculations tell me that without an ND filter the largest aperture I could shoot it on ISO 400 on a Spanish "sunny 22" day would be f/4.5.

I believe the Z-1P has the option of a panoramic setting, hence the P for panoramic. Reading these exchanges led me to check on my Z-1P, and I found that the battery is dead so I have ordered another one.

Yeah you pretty well need to use 50 ISO film in Spain, which does not leave you many choices if using colour film. (Velvia or CineStill 50 are about it)

I think aside from the panoramic function, the Z-1p also has a programmable User mode, maybe a few more custom functions, and I think mlu with the 2sec. timer.
Also, the grip is textured rubber whereas the grip on the Z-1 is plastic. It's not a big deal, but IMO the Z-1 is a bit cheaper feeling than the Z-1p.

TBH, my shot at f/1.4 was probably technically overexposed by around 2 stops, but Superia 400 handles it easily.

This makes me really want a collapsible Summicron for my M2. I've looking for one for awhile now but they're usually too expensive or in terrible condition.
Hopefully the Summicron-R 50/2 and Leicaflex SL that I have coming will suffice

I lucked out on this one. Someone over on RFF had had it properly cleaned, so the glass is immaculate. It's the only Collapsible I've seen without marks on the front element.

The Cron Rigid is a good alternative with arguably better optics (although of course it doesn't collapse...). They pop up semi-regularly for relatively affordable prices (by Leica standards).

The Collapsible definitely looks pretty on the M2

I saw you picked on an SL! I look forward to seeing some work from it. I've heard from various sources that the SL has the best build of any SLR.

I have a good 49mm three-stop ND filter which is essential for shooting at larger apertures even on 100 ISO film, as most of my film cameras max out at 1/1000s.

Nothing there that I'd miss much then. I thought you must have over-exposed unless we have radically different concepts of "sunny" It looks great, just goes to show how flexible colour film can be.

I went from a thread where a member was agonizing over a possible decentered $1000 lens to this lovely photo taken with an aged Soviet camera mated to an aged Soviet lens recorded to expired film. It was such a breath of fresh air to see work that quite simply good without all the angst.
