No idea, perhaps the scan?
Hmmm It doesn't look like any scanning issue I've seen. Definitely not dust.

Did you develop/scan yourself or send it to a lab? Can you see if the specs are visible on the negs?

I just hope it's not an issue with the film itself. I've seen similar (but not quite the same) with cheaper film stocks (Foma 200 for instance) but I would expect Portra160 to be more reliable.

Looks like a development issue to me, reminds me of the issues I was having with FP4 a while back: Ilford Fp4plus 'spotting' on negatives - PentaxForums.com

Picked up an FTb to have a backup FD-mount camera. Reminded after using it why I didn't use my old one all that much, so I may just resell it after swapping the chrome nose lens that came with it with one of the several 50/1.8 lenses I've accumulated. (By this point, I'm pretty certain that FD 50/1.8 lenses reproduce by asexual division.)

Canon FTb.
Canon FD 50mm f1.8.
Fuji Pro 400H.

I think the FTB is a nice and underrated camera, I don't use mine that much as I have its big brother, Godzilla aka F-1n. Besides the size it's a joy to use.

Canon F-1n, FD55mm f1.8, P-L filter and Portra 160.

It's a fine camera, it just doesn't quite fit my preferences. Largely the focusing screen, to be honest. I'm just not a big fan of a plain microprism spot, which I find difficult to use in lower light.

I also have the same problem and that's the reason why I am not a great fan of the KX for instance...in this case I would suggest to upgrade to an F-1, I have been told a split image screen for the FTB exists but I have never seen one.

More 'zilla's pics from the same roll.

I picked its predicessor up Ft Ql from a charity shop about 3 years ago. Fully functioning for £15. Love it. Really smooth shutter/mirror mech and I prefer the stop down metering and FL lenses.

g026r, I need another FTb like I need another hole in my head, but if you plan to sell it, let me know. I would possibly be interested if it's an FTbn in nice cosmetic condition.

My main FD camera is an F-1. I just like to have a backup body when I travel. (Both for reliability reasons, and so that I don't get stuck with a roll of slow film loaded when I need high speed.)

Cosmetic condition is fine, though it would definitely benefit from a CLA to at least fix up the slightly gummy light seals. That, plus the cost of getting it to Texas, would probably make it more affordable for you to pick up one locally.
