It is already the new year for much of the globe and I want to thank all of you "filmies" for making this old year interesting and memorable. The evolution of this thread has simply been amazing as many of us dusted off our old film gear and worked the kinks out of getting acceptable digitized images from our slides and negatives. As noted in several recent posts, this thread has become home to some of the best work on the Pentax Forums. Good work, all of you!

I second that notion. The colour, grain and tones of this thread far exceed other areas of the forum. The excellent composition comes from experience I suppose

You guys treat photography as a true artform; crafted with real tools made from metal and leather.

It's been a pleasure.. see you hre again next year!

Cousins

Happy New Year!

Here you will find my granddaughter and her cousin enjoying our New Year's Eve party last night.

For the occasion, I decided to use film rather than digital. Taken with Pentax K1000, Vivitar 28mm f2.8 lens, Kalimar 175a thyristor bounce flash, Fujicolor color negative film, scanned from negative with Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner. The scanner was a Christmas present from my wife, and I've been enjoying using it!

Ooh, great set. And this might sound like faint praise, but excellent metering on the first one! Good job getting the text perfectly exposed. I have a friend doing student exchange in Japan right now. He seems to be enjoying himself.

Thanks. That shot was one of 3 that I tried. The other two didn't fair out so well. Japan is a land of contrast. lol. It is fun being here.

Wow! I love the strong film community here! Here are some of my photographs taken with an MX. I'm very new to photography in general, so I just got these developed at a drugstore.

Foma 400 in D-76 undiluted 8 min. Macro-Takumar 50/4. Yashica TL Electro-X.

The Yashica Mat has Spiratone #2 close up lenses mounted - the fat one goes on top as it contains the prism for parallax. In front, a Rollei hood, Spiratone #1, and Yashica #2 close up lenses. The Yashica not only magnifies more but is a better optic than the Spiratones.

I'm getting ready to list my MX and a few other items for sale (hopefully sometime this week), so I thought I'd run a couple rolls of film through it over the Christmas break, especially when Santa paid the house a visit on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately the only film I could find in the house had expired nearly seven years ago and was 400 ISO, but I was happy with the outcome.

Pentax MX with Kodak Gold 400, my favorite of the bunch.
