Very nice! How does the focus action feel with the 43mm? Tempted to get one for my LX.

It’s OK.

Doesn’t compare to the manual K-mount lenses that usually go with the LX, which are just buttery smooth, but it gets the job done.

The focus ring is perhaps a bit narrow and you can hear the mechanism moving somewhat, which is a bit strange at first. I wouldn’t ever recommend it for it’s manual focus feel, but you put up with it because the images are so damn good.

Another positive is that the focus throw is way shorter than those older lenses. You get to where you need to be way faster, whilst still retaining enough accuracy. At least that’s my experience, your mileage may vary.

Despite the suboptimal manual focus experience however, it’s on my LX for about 90% of the time. I guess that says more than any of the above.

A small local lab simply called “the photography studio”. They charge € 5 for developing C41 and offer 1-hour turnaround as a standard.

Before my move I was in a similar situation. There was a small lab in my local photography store. I used them for years without issue, but they used the first lockdown to clean their machines and afterwards the troubles started. My first batch of film that was all shot during lockdown suffered from what seemed like overexposure and shifting colors. I assumed user error or faulty equipment at first, since the issues were not fully consistent. And I’m still not exactly sure what happened but my E100 which was sent out never had any troubles so..

After the summer I brought in another big batch after going on holiday and I had the same issues, but this time the infrared channels on my scanner were acting up as well. Contacted the lab, they insisted it must’ve been a problem with the film but after some back and forth it was determined they accidentally did what’s known as a bleach bypass. They refunded my development and gifted a 5-pack of Portra 400 but of course the pictures were mostly rubbish on about 16 rolls. Guess it happens sometimes..

The new lab is just the closest one that does developing themselves. At 5km away it’s a nice little trip with the bike

Very nice. I wish I had shot some film when I was in Vietnam but I hadn't started down that particular photographic rabbit-hole at that point.

Thanks! ProImage is nice and worth giving it a shot. Apparently it is just old Kodak Gold re-labelled. Put "Pro" on anything and jacking up the price apparently is a winning technique!

I've never heard of Pro Image 100 being old Gold. I think it was available in hotter and sunnier climates (where ISO 100 is more useful) long before it was in Europe or the US, in fact the only PI 100 I've tried was a number of years ago when I used to use an online film-selling business based in Thailand and this film was available to them, so I picked up a box. I think I still have a roll from that box.
