Fuji still does have some color film production lines and good R&D, so I imagine they would make a reformulation themselves. I don't really see a problem there.
They might have even have an empty production line if they didn't resort to chugging out more C200 to motivate them to do so.

However as you state, it needs to make sense in the current market. If they think it will turn a (significant) profit for them, we'll see something down the line is my hope.
The time of Fujifilm priding themselves on being a film manufacturer, or doing this out of some sense of prestige are long gone obviously.
Only Fuji know what things cost to develop and produce but film photography is on the rise so if they could release something onto the market then they could expect it's sales to increase in line with demand. Kodak are releasing or re-releasing films and have stated they are working on others.

We'll see, but I don't think Fuji have the will to develop anything new.

Yeah they seam to be heading in a downward direction in film choices, while Kodak is going upward. A reversal of a decade or so.

One suspects that Fuji are slowly letting go of their film lines as they want you to buy their digital cameras with their "Film simulations", which, though very nice, do not look like the film stocks at all to me.

Here is a great comparison of film vs fuji simulations.
The film blows the sim away IMO

Yeah except ... "Kodak" ain't Kodak as we knew it, and "Fujifilm" is probably better known now for a pretty compelling line of digicams.

That's pretty cool. It basically turns into a shift pinhole camera. I never would have thought of using it that way.

Exactly. And thankfully one can just use the 6x9 markings on the backing paper and it works out fine. It does tend to mean you shoot all eight images portrait. The vignetting at the extreme end looks fine in the sky or in the ceiling of a building, but weird when it's just the right hand end of the image.

Really nice. 8x10 pinhole is pretty hard core. How much "front rise" does it have?

Fujifilm X-Pro3 Acros-R digital vs. 35mm Acros 100II - By Dale Rogers - 35mmc
Some of the film shots did blow the sims. away, but others were surprisingly close in appearance. That being said I am sure with a bit more practice with the XPro3 settings he could have got more consistency out of the Acros simulation. I may have to revise my earlier assertion to "the Fuji colour film simulations do not look at all like the films they are meant to represent". To be honest I would not want them to. I want film to have its own unique look.
I am currently mourning not being able to get Fuji Superior in any film speed in 120 format for my Yashica 124G. I loved shooting that stuff on that camera for landscapes.
