@tuco: *applause* beautiful series! i especially love the long exposure rocks, but all the others are great too.

@agnostic: the reflection shot, with the sharp / dreamy contrast and the foggy atmosphere really raises the bar here : )

@tuco (again): that Zeiss Planar T* is a great & more expensive alternative for the 85/1.4

...and my .02 contribution to the thread. both shots made last christmas in sibiu, romania.
pentax me super, m 50/1.4 wide open, kodak high definition, ISO 200, handheld.

Thanks. Are you sure about that? The SMC Pentax A* 85mm f1.4 usually sells for more WHEN and IF you can find it, I found.

And another one, also on Rollei Retro 100, Edwal FG-7 (1+15)

Anchor Point

Ricoh XR-2s, Vivitar 28/2.8 (K02)

Steve

P.S. The full-size 16 bit TIFF of this image is much more impressive. The "grain" in the sky of the above version, for example, is artifact from resizing. RR 100 really is pretty fine-grained.

Steve, nice shots. I forget, are you rolling your own B&W these days?

Worked my way through my second roll of expired Acros 100 Monday morning and got the results back today. (Some of us are still slaves to the labs...gotta learn to be more self-reliant).

ME Super, M50 1.7, Acros 100

I'll save the last two for the next post.

Best,
Kevin

OK, I lied...I found more than two I want to share ...sorry.

ME Super, M50 1.7, Acros 100 (expired)

Not quite the NY Public library, but it's what we got...

Speaking of libraries...

Last one...promise

Best to all,
Kevin

Thanks, Nesster (If it's worth shooting once, it's worth shooting twice <g>). My favourite Lion shot is a tombstone I shot in Lowell, MA. The founder of the town was a guy named Ayer, and he has a lion sitting on top of him for all eternity. Only problem with that shot is that I wasn't shooting film yet, so it's digital and not fair game for this forum.

Best,
Kevin

Stevebrot, I almost keep looking for Batman flying out behind that Anchor Point shot, lol.

KJon, some neat architecture.

Steve, those Rollei Retro 100 shots are amazing.

Kevin, are those building in your first shot being torn down?

Here is on from a roll off Velvia RVP I recently put through my 67.
I'm having a hell of a time getting the scans to come out looking like the transparencies. More practice I suppose.

Pentax 67, SMC 67 45mm@ f/8, 125/s handheld.

The colors are much better in the transparency.

Swift, another one of you medium format guys...damn. And on slide film no less. The envy never stops. I believe you on the colors, but the scan is good enough to be a pretty good "tease" - gives a sense of what it might be. Wish I had something intelligent to say about scanning, but I don't. That's why I have the labs do mine <g>. Sometimes I'm happy with them and sometimes I'm not.

Re the buildings...first shot is of an old school. They've gutted the building, but are trying to save the facade. The second is clearly vacant and probably should be taken down. To be honest, it's not a neighborhood I'm familiar with - you can see that facade from the interstate and it looked like something I'd want to shoot. Had the President's Day Holiday off on Monday, so I thought it would be a good time to do some exploring. I've been to the church before; small world, but the custodian of the school I work at is a parishioner there. Couple years back I sang a funeral there and ran into him. The congregation is largely Hispanic now, but the founders of the church were Austrians - all the donor's names in the windows are German <g>.

Best,
Kevin

@Kjon...Yes, I am rolling my own Rollei Retro 100. I think that is about the only way you can get it (memo to self...order another 100' roll...). It is pretty nice stuff despite having a lot of curl. Your Acros work looks pretty good. I am partial to the lion too.

@Swift1...Thank you for the kind words. One of these days, we should do a meet-up of people in the general Portland area. The city is great for architecture and street shooting once spring gets going.

@Tuco...I always love it when you contribute. Great work. It is particularly nice to see scenes from my past. I grew up in Seattle and lived at various times in Bremerton, Port Angeles, and the San Juans. Seeing your pictures is like old-home week. BTW...I was thinking Batman when I did the weird angle...

Steve

Edit:
Well...I guess I spoke too soon! It appears that N. American supplies of Rollei Retro 100 have dried up. There is not a lot of Rollei Retro 80s either.
End edit

@Javier - You first couple of photos with the CPL remind me of what happened when I put my DA18-55 on my ME Super.

What film were you using for those? The colors are great.
Or my recent photos with the DA15 on film. Actually, I kind of like it.

This is a fantastic thread. It is especially fascinating to see the terrific shots from two posters (Tuco and Agnostic) with totally different styles of B&W. Thanks for joining the party, KJon--excellent shots.
