My Braun Gloria has a problem with the film going slack and hopefully nothing else. I'll have to analyze further. I might have wasted four or five rolls of film. I did a test roll today with only winding the film right before taking a shot, hopefully that will fix it.

Super results, brkl. The high key snow with the grain adds great texture.

Great picture of Mt. Seymour. I was on their Web site just this last week and noticed that they are making a point of NOT being an Olympic venue. No crowds, no interruptions, just skiing...

Cheers, Javier and tuco! I really appreciate the comments.

I like the mountain shot too, stevebrot, though it's perhaps a bit too familiar this time of the year Oh, who am I kidding, I haven't found my way out of the town all winter...

bkpix, that self-coloured shot is amazing. I'd love to see a bigger version. Sometimes nature doesn't give you just the light you're looking for, so you need to lend it a hand

Javier, I like the shot banjo player and also that wall with the graffiti and presidents. Oh, and the one with the streetlamps -- surreal!

Redcoat, your black levels may need tending to, but terrific shots there. Feels good going back to film, doesn't it?

tuco, I asked about your process. I mean stuff like do you take notes of every frame you shoot and do you vary development time according to the contrast of the scene you shot.

I spent hours today in the darkroom doing prints. I have a ton to learn there, even more than with development, but it's nice to have tangible results. The Braun shots look nice, though I haven't tried any big enlargements to get an idea of their resolution (I'm doing 18cm by 18cm prints).

No, not every frame for 120 roll. Only the shots I think will be decent. I carry a note pad with me in my case. But with my 4x5, because I take so few relatively and you can develop just one shot at a time, I do take notes every shot.

You may have heard me mention I like my Hasselblad because of the hot-swapping backs. I have 3 backs. So if I think I have a good shot and it needs to be under or over developed, I will devote that roll to that type of shooting. I'll swap the back and load up another roll. And when I get home and only have say 8 of 12 shots, I'll develop the roll anyway.

One problem I have with compression and expansion is I can't measure my negatives when I use PMK Pyro. It is a staining developer and my one-degree spot meter converted to a densitometer hack doesn't work well with those negatives. But I just found a inexpensive desitometer designed specifically for Pyro negatives that you use in conjunction with your enlarger. I'm currently looking into it. So what I've been doing is just apply general add 1/2 stop, under develop 20% sort of thing from values published in Gorden Hutching's book on Pyro.

Brkl, great set of shots all the way 'round, but I'm really fond of the newspaper set; maybe because I was a paper boy as a kid, maybe because it reminds me of all those film noir movies showing papers being produced and the seemingly anachronistic modern equipment shown in your shots. Who knows? For whatever reason, they're my favs of the lot. Really nice job.

Best,
Kevin

Probably ought to post a few of my own after the quote fest above...

Got a second copy of the SuperProgram (with working TTL flash this time <whew>) and ran a test roll through and am fairly happy with the results.

All shots SuperProgram, M50 f2, Kodak BW400CN

This shot ends up reflecting one of life's little ironies. The organ below was recently sold by my alma mater and it now resides in my place of employ. I celebrated a birthday this week and on looking at the plaque in the photo, I noticed the organ and I came into being the same year <g>. Small world

A few from an old rail station that has been converted into a restaurant...

Thanks for looking,
Kevin

It's at LA's Museum of Modern Art, they collected street lamps that were all in use at one point in the city's history (from ~1900 to modern day) and stacked them up as you see fit.

This isn't a "film shot" but it shows another angle...

Fixcinater, thanks for the location identification...thought it odd that they were all piled up like that <g>.
