Steve - it's a pity the campus security bugged you, what harm do they really think you could have been doing That Arista EDu film has an interesting look to it, is it repackaged Foma?

Recently I found a roll of film I shot a few months ago, it had fallen down behind a cupboard. The roll cost me less than $1 to buy at a discount retail shop here. Repackaged in second hand 35mm canisters, very crudely cut and often scratched, I think it is actually film manufactured by the Chinese manufacturer "Lucky". While it's labelled as 400, I think I shot this roll at 200iso which is probably more suitable. Much less grainy shadows. I also seemed to find that giving it more exposure seems to greatly reduce the visibility of the scratches on the film surface...

Pentax MX, SMC-M 135 f/3.5, 'Snapshots 400 film' - possible rebadged Lucky 200

Nice work, guys.

The color shots look Ferrania 400-ish, too.

Steve, your shot has much grace and motion to it; stoopid campus cops ...

Here is one it took me a couple of months to start liking enough to PP the dust spots out of. I have been a deep-focus guy for so long; only now am I enjoying bokeh:

Pentax SP1000, Meyer-Optik Oreston 50/1.8, handheld, breezy day. Kentmere 400 souped in Tmax, V300 negative scan.

And speaking of Ferrrania 400, here is a shot made with my Konica S III rangefinder with fixed Hexanon 47/1.9:

This path bridges a pond/swamp and connects the residence halls with the academic buildings at Reed College in Portland. The intent was to do some architectural photography with a group from Portland Photographers' Forum. Campus security had other ideas; however, with the result that we took photos of plants, swamp, squirrels and paths rather than buildings.

Nice shot Steve. Bummer about the security. It's a sad day in our society when people feel they need to fear photographers.

Nice shot. I was anxiously reading for the words, Pan-x in that shot. Yeah, it sucks that you can't even take a picture of a building anyone can walk up to and look at or sneak a shot with concealed, hi-tech gear or your phone camera if they really wanted to. So how is preventing someone with a camera they can see improving their "security".

Sorry Tuco...no Pan-X yet. I am saving the rolls you sent me for when I have a good subject to shoot. I sort of think of it as the Kodachrome of B&W films and am saving them for something special.

Thank you all for the kind comments. It was only after a couple of hours trying to find something to photograph that I "saw" the curving walkway and realized that the shallow DOF of the 4x5 would work nicely for this subject. (Yes, shallow DOF...even at f/16!) As for the campus security (called "Community Safety" at Reed)...I thought at first that they were concerned about terrorism or student safety. Turns out that the rule is based more on marketing concerns and maintaining appropriate control over use of the college's "brand".

Steve

P.S. Yes, Jason, the Arista.EDU Ultra is repackaged Fomapan 100. It has a funky dark, inky blue anti-halation dye that washes out in the presoak/dev phase. Overall, it works pretty well.

If you haven't done it already, devote one of your cameras to that film. I find it takes a long time to shoot up a roll. I loaded it up in one of my smallest cameras, a ME Super, and carry it around selectively taking a shot here and there.

We are thinking on the same lines. I decided just last night when I was posting here that I will put the Pan-X in the XR7 body and use it much the same as I am doing with the Kodachrome in the KX.
