Thanks, I like your pictures too! In fact the whole thread is filled with inspiering photography.

I add a few more photos. This time from northern Finland, using Sensia 200.
One look at these and I recognized the light (or lack of!) as being from the North.... Excellent shots, I like #2 and #3 for their lonely tone.

Here's the result of a couple of unintended things, where I figured OK what the hey: first, I bought a Minolta SRT 201 sort of unintentionally or as a 'freebie'... turns out to be a pretty nice camera, I like it. Second, CVS failed to burn the photos onto the CD so I'm scanning these myself. Third, I didn't notice that I had the scanner set to Color Scan but B&W Negative Film. So the result is a form of cross processing, or cross scanning at least. I figure, what the hey...

I really like that first shot Jussi. You do a good job of making the grain work for you, IMO. It's a nice style you have.

cheers,

Thank you! The lights can be pretty amazing, (Oulu area) and it lasts all day, like 9 to 17. It never gets completly daylight and the evening comes slow.

Btw I scanned the slides again and replaced the images. I photograph the slides with the DA35ltd macro against the laptop screen, and the technique/setup was improved. it works surprisingly well when when I manage to get even light.

Your photo "where have you gone" is nice. It shows once again that you can technically do pretty much whatever. Mess up colours and have lots of grain and dust and in the end its overshadowed by the nice motive.

On a recent trip to the local Goodwill thrift store I found a "New in Box" Minolta AF101R for $1.99. It's a plastic P&S 35mm camera from the 90's. What caught my eye was that it say's "Ultra Wide Angle" on the box. I figured for $1.99 it might be fun. I got it home and did some research and it turns out it has a 28mm f/5.6 lens. Most of these type of cameras came with a 35mm lens so while I wouldn't really call it an "Ultra Wide", it's wider the most of these cheapo P&S.
I threw a roll of expired Fujicolor 400 that someone had given me into it and tried it out. As it is a fixed exposure @f/5.6 and 1/125s, I think 400iso is a little fast on a sunny day and most of my shots came out quite over exposed but I got a few decent one. All in all, not bad for a $2 camera.

Trondheim in December in the afternoon gloom. Underexposed Velvia50, A28mm F2 used wide open on the MX. Exposure compensated after scanning which amplifies vignetting even more. Also I get a darker band at the right side of the slides some times. The orange band on left side comes from bad scanning technique (stray light). All this gives a gritty grainy look, which I find interesting.

Here are some pictures taken with the wonderful Pentax K2. Every time I use this camera I am surprised about how good this camera is built. And she's a beauty to watch! The K2 is definitely one of my favorite SLR's by Pentax.

A little camera porn. I was experimenting with doing closeup work with the Chamonix 4x5 using a 6x7 120 film holder. It is a bit of a pain (you have to modify exposure based on bellows extension), but nice to have better control over focus than I normally might expect at this distance. (Courtesy of the camera's movements.)

Looking Up
