Thank you...thank you... (both Jussi and David)

(Takes deep bow)

The hard part was getting the exposure right. With that much extension you have to pretty much double the time. The intent was to see if I really could optimize DOF using the camera's movements at close range. The photo looks as I intended, so I guess the answer is yes. It was only after I looked at the negative that I realized that the reproduction ratio is nearly 1:1.

Steve, you the man!

Colton, the tone on those two is instant nostalgia to me, catnip to the eye, and wistful remembrance of salad days...

@Javier - welcome back to film with a vengeance <g>. Nice to see your signature style back here on the thread you started.

@Agnostic - I've been missing your B&Ws and your bicylces; inverted bike shot is stellar.

@Steve - Thanks for posting the Canon camera porn shot from the Chamonix. I've been thinking long and hard about a similar purchase [but it's not in the budget now and I've had very little time for photography :-(]

@Nesster - Love the "cross processed" shots, particularly the train station. Bravo!

@David - really nice B&Ws. You really ought to post more of your stuff. I think the ones before that were Ektar (and I really liked those, too <g>).

@Eddie - really enjoying your shots and looking forward to more.

@Colton - liked you Minolta P&S shots. I had bought my wife a P&S something-or-other back in the day (mid to late '90s). I can't remember what it was, but she got some nice shots with it. I'm thinking it's floating around the house somewhere and since my film renaissance I've been looking for it. Now that I know what I'm doing <guffaw>, I'd like to take it out for a spin.

@Egl - thanks for posting the shots of Norway. I've never been, but my father's people were from there originally and it's nice to see what it looks like through your slides. Really nice stuff.

Best to all,
Kevin

I've been cleaning up my web albums at Picasa (being careful to leave the shots I have posted here <g>) and noticed there are a fair number of shots I've been meaning to post and have simply never gotten around to posting.

The following shots are from June '10. Since last winter, my friend Mike Longo had been threatening me with a TBA film SLR and came through with a Minolta XG-1n. It had been laying around unused and he was willing to part with it, the kit lens, a Sigma 28-80mm zoom, and a host of filters for essentially the price of a beer. My collection of late 70s-early 80s competing film SLRs is almost complete: I have the Pentax ME Super, Nikon EM, Canon AE-1, and now the Minolta XG-1n. Only one left is the Olympus OM-1 (and I'm in no mad rush).

All shots are the Minolta XG-1n, MD50 f2, CVS 200 (rebadged Fuji 200)

First Church of Christ, Wethersfield, CT

Comstock Ferre, Wethersfield, CT

Flowers, Wethersfield, CT

Keeney Center, Wethersfield, CT

It's nice to have another camera to play with, but I'm not in love with the Minolta XG-1n nor its kit lens. I think I get waay better results with the Pentax M50 f2 (but then again, I'm biased <g>).

Best to all,
Kevin

Best to all,

Thanks Kevin

I have a good 15 rolls of b/w i can't find time to process , i'm on the verge of paying someone to do it just so i can see what is on them. I've also misplaced my 35mm holder for the scanner so even if i get them processed it'll be another chore scanning

I keep threatening to learn to do my own processing and scanning, but time is at a premium and I've found two labs I'm pretty happy with to develop and scan for me; one for color and one for B&W. Only drawback is the cost...

Looking forward to those shots when you get around to it <g>.

Best,
Kevn

Thanks Kevin. I like all of you pictures, but especially this one, Oculus in the School's Interior. Excellent shot.
I too want to learn to do my own processing and scanning, not now but some day.....

Thanks Jussi. I think overexposed those a bit, but it seems to work. I was shooting almost right into the sun on the second shot.

Thanks Kevin. It's kinda fun to take out a P&S and play around. Plus the wide lens plus fixed exposure makes for some fun interesting colors and what not.

Nice series of photos you posted.
