Nesster, thanks for the kind words. I always look forward to your posts, first, for the pictures, and second for the history lesson. You always send me to google looking for whatever gem you happen to be shooting in a given post. (This time was no exception <g>).

Re the Velvia, it's the first unexpired roll I've shot. Ran an expired roll through a friend's Rebel 2000 last spring (I think). I was singularly unimpressed with the film and the camera. This time out I used the ZX-5n for it's matrix metering and felt like the camera did most of the heavy lifting. Now that I have a sense of what to expect, I'll prolly run a roll or two through a SuperProgram or an ME Super.

Best,
Kevin

Colton, Asaru: both sets show the sharpness possible with 35mm. The 43 really works well with film, and the pancake isn't shabby either

Here's from an experiment a couple of years ago - I was trying out a reversed SMC Tak 28/3.5 on a ES-II loaded with Tri-X. Not the optimal bug macro combo
Thanks Jussi.
I like the B&W bug macros and the Ansco looks like a great camera with a sharp lens. Is it a 120 camera? I have seen the Agfa version in an antique shop for $25 but since I knew nothing about it I left it there.

beautiful
Thanks fearview.
I love old Japanese cars and your shot were a treat to see. One of those Toyota badges would go great with my '77 Celica.

Not sure of slides also count..... I've been following this tread for a while and decided my first post should be here ;-). All shot with an ME and an M 50 1.4 in 1990 in Fiji.

Thanks - this is a '56/57 vintage range finder... I've stayed away from the '50s Agfa 120 folders, as I'm afraid of a) leaky bellows b) frozen grease on the lens focusing mechanism. Probably you made a good call.

schj - nice vintage slides - where is that, Jamaica or some Caribbean place? Or wait, India or somewhere around there?

I just sent my sister some 70's vintage 1/2 frame scans of our old houses and her, for her birthday. Old slides are cool, please keep on posting them!

@Colton, thanks for the nice response to the Velvia series. When I posted the last one, I was thinking of your reflection shot on the previous page and the great Provia stuff you've been posting. I've got a roll of expired Sensia in the fridge and after that Provia is next on the list.

@David, thanks for commenting on my shots. There's been a fair bit of really nice B&W being posted, yours included.

@schj - I should hope that slides count <g>. I'll second Nesster; Keep 'em coming.

Best,
Kevin

The 55mm Super-Takumar lens is by far my favorite. Here it's been mounted via adapter on an MX, in front of consumer-grade Fuji 200 film.

I was surprised and greatly impressed with the illusion of depth at f/8.

All taken in Fiji. The city shots are from the capital Suva (one of the few days without rain). The shot with the suger cane is in Nandi on the other side of the main island (Viti Levu). The shot with the river is taken in the pine plantation forests I was working at the time.

I hate my scanner. I had to scan these as prints, and even then it didn't do them justice.
These were from a test roll of a batch of expired AgfaColor 100 that I got on eBay for my trip. I love this film. So warm and rich. I wish the scans really matched the prints.

Riley The Dog, Pentax MX with the dreaded Takumar (Bayonet) 135/2.5. Stopped down to about 3.5. This shot was really overexposed, but I did get a couple really nice, tack-sharp pics with this lens.

Yellow Warning, MX with M-50/1.7, at about f8.
