Taken during Occupy Chicago protests on October 10th. There's a guy getting arrested for assaulting an officer in the background.

Pentax LX, Ilford Delta 100. Not sure about the lens, probably my K135/2.5 or possibly the M100/2.8.

this is cool. I did a double take when I first scrolled down to it, the snow tricked me, thought it was inverted at first, haha. very cool use of contrast, and a nice composition.

I finally finished the roll of Ferrania Solaris 100 in the FED-2. I am finding that Solaris (like most films) benefits from proper exposure. Go too thin on the negative and grain and color suffer immensely!

Here are a few from Catalina Island off the coast of California:

Casino Arch

Entry to a covered walkway on the shore in Avalon.

Flying Fish Fatality

Sculpture outside the yacht club in Avalon.

Discount Dive

Judging from the condition of the boat, you get what you pay for.

Catalina Caddy

Miniature cars are the norm on the island and this roadster is one of the nicer examples.

All photos taken with FED-2 rangefinder mounted to KMZ Jupiter-8 50/2. Film is Ferrania Solaris 100 (Four Corners Store house brand) scanned with Nikon 5000 ED.

A couple more Solaris shots from the FED-2

Anarchist Cat

Outside the anarchist book store on Mississippi Avenue in Portland.

Tie-Fighters and Death Star...Street Style

The marks on the pavement were made as part of a street improvement project.

Where To Go

OK...this photo has virtually no redeeming value. I just have this thing for arrows and arrow-like constructs.

All with the FED-2, LZOS Jupiter-12 35/2.8, Ferrania Solaris 100 scanned with a Nikon 5000 ED.

Steve, wilde results , and I really like the arrow construct

For some reason, the P645 decides to under expose in low light, every once in a rare while... 75/2.8 and New Portra 160:

Same camera & lens, Fuji 400H:

Thanks Jussi! And thank you too for turning me on to Ferrania. I found a source at Four Corner Store. 16 rolls for $30 USD. LINK

Be aware that Ferrania is a little on the quirky side. Properly exposed and the grain is not bad. Color is always a little strange, but very cool for many subjects. What I generally do is boost the contrast and saturation (by color) in PP for appropriate artistic effect. Here are my Ferrania shots on Flickr:

I actually like the 400 speed somewhat better, but have not found a source for it here in N. America. There is a Flickr group devoted to the film:

Again, many thanks to Jussi (Nesster) for sending me a couple of sample rolls from his personal stash as a bonus on a lens purchase.

still trying to figure out film. its pretty tricky (I.e. i loaded about three rolls of film incorrectly before i started to actually expose them). but for me its more fun than digital because i have to stop and think instead of just click away at top speed. any thoughts, comments, harsh criticisms?

Steve - thanks for the tip. I like "quirky" film sometimes. I might try out the 9-roll pack. For $24 shipped, it's definitely worth a shot (no pun intended). actually, now I've started browsing this site, and I'm getting a lesson in film. there are several films I haven't heard of, I'm intrigued! I haven't shot much other than fuji and kodak films. one roll of Rollei ATP and some generic walgreens film when I was starting out, but I think that's about it. I think it's time to branch out a little. thanks again for the info.

wehavenowaves! - I'm pretty new to it all myself. I don't really have criticism for you, I just want to suggest that you keep shooting. what kind of camera are you shooting with? if it's a manual camera, just make sure you understand shutter speed and aperture and what effects they have on your photos. make sure to understand what different films are good for (i.e. some are made for outdoor/natural daylight, some made for indoor, some are high saturation, some are lower, some are finer grain, and of course slide film vs. negative film, etc. etc.). once you get the basics down, possibilities are limitless. try different films, different techniques, maybe try out some push processing, mainly, just have fun with it and figure out what you like to shoot. also, this forum (and specifically this thread) is great, and the members here are very helpful and encouraging, so this is a good place to browse for info or ask questions. good luck!
