Thanks for the endorsement of the V700; it seems like the best compromise. And being able to scan 24 negs while you wait would be worth the price of admission. gr, maybe you have some advice for Jonathan Mac on his color balance issues.

@Jonathan Mac, just a thought, but you said you don't have anything turned on except dust removal and you're having color issues. Maybe it's time to start turning some stuff "on". Composition is great in your sunflower shots. It would be the icing on the cake if you could get your colors where you want them. Maybe some of our hot-shot scanners (and V500 owners) will have a fix for you. Sorry I'm not much help.

Best,
Kevin
In the end I turned off everything possible to get as clean a TIFF file as possible to work with later in a proper PP program. It seems to be virtually impossible to get a neutral colour balance. Everything is either too cool (the majority), too warm or has a colour cast. I will keep experimenting to see if I can find a solution.

So I've had 2 working MEs now for a couple of years and after trying to sell one for $15 with no luck, it has sat on my shelf unused. Recently, I started thinkking it might be fun to put my Winder MEII on it, and my 24/2.8, and then use it as a wideangle, motor driven, hyperfocal, street shooter
I got it all setup and since it hadn't been used in awhile, I loaded a roll of Fujicolor 200 and went for a walk (well, actually a powerchair cruise).
Got the roll back and both camera and winder appear to be working great.
Now I have a roll of Ilford FP4 loaded and a yellow filter on the 24/2.8

Here's a shot from the test roll.

FWIW, I think the ME is a superb little camera, is very underated, and is a pleasure to use.
People often cite reliability issues, but in the past 4 years, I've run across 5 ME Supers and 2 MEs and every one worked flawlessly. I haven't had that good of luck with Spotmatics or K1000s

@Nesster, enjoyed the balloon lady and I'm not a little jealous that you have some Reala 100 left to shoot. (I was truly fond of that film and was sad to see it go).

@Colton, haven't had the privilege of shooting the ME, but I have 3 or 4 copies of the ME Super and they've all been "super" reliable. I've spent a lot of time and thought on sorting out my feelings about the ME Super - it was my first SLR, given to me by my dad when I was in my early twenties and I still have (and shoot) the original copy. Amazing the influence your first real camera has on you for the rest of your shooting life. I end up comparing every subsequent film camera I've shot to that ME Super. As far as my current "fav" goes, I think it has to be the SuperProgram, but I like them all (at least the manual focus cams...).

Best,
Kevin

But I want to share some of my film "experiments", so I'm glad I found this thread!

Jonathan Mac: Liking the colors you are getting from the portra.
Bukaj: Really like those shots, the shoe one seems a bit grainy for 400. Your last shot is captivating.
Swift1: I like how you framed it, and the reds.
