Thanks Peter.
I was really impressed with the results of this combo I used. I had never used any 1600 film before let alone in the middle of the night. I shot the roll between 10:30 and Midnight. I had my twins out late, poor things. My wife also was having a blast shooting film. Here is a picture of the rig I used.
ME SUPER, M50F/1.4 and the Fuji Superia 1600. I was also using a tripod and cable release.

Here are afew more ASA 1600 shots.

From my second (ever) roll of film:

Camera: Pentax ES
Lens: SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4
Film: Fuji Reala
Scanned negative using HP ScanJet 8300
The BW was obviously converted in post.

Fujicolor in a KX with the SMC Pentax 28mm f3.5 on it used on a trip to a nearby lake and forest with the kids a while ago (April, you can still see some ice on the northern side of the lake).
I need not explain that I was quite upset with the 8 years old when she throw sand at me and the KX in the last picture, but having seen the result I have forgiven her

Yeah, I'm a bit scared, I've noted the quality of the Nikkor E 50 before... and my brother in law's Canons as well. Guess it is a slightly different look than with the Pentaxes.

I know what you mean. I have thought the same about my Canon FD lenses. For some reason the detail and color is noticeably different. I also think this is why so many are hooked on to the takumars. They too put out that great color and detail.

I'm not hooked on my Taks. I plan on getting rid of them. It is addressed in my will.

Well, I gotta say shooting color film is a whole new ballgame for me. Other than a roll of Gold200 I burned up to test my PZ-1 when I got it last fall I had not shot color film since 1995.
Not being one to go into anything half way the following images are from:
- my 1st rolls of Portra 400VC ever,
- first color since '95,
- first roll of color I processed myself,
- and first roll of color film I have scanned.

Out of all those the last was the killer. For the record - Canoscan software SUCKS unless you really really like blue/purple images. But VueScan and a bit of trial and error over the past couple days gave me these. Not the best, but not bad IMO for a 4-way first time out.
