I think that TMax 400 pushes better than Tri-x. The TMax grain is so fine so start with, the pushed shot shows very little increase. The shot below was TMax 400 @ 1600 and was developed in TMax developer which gives a speed increase. You could also use Microphen especially if you wanted to push it to 3200.
Nice shot!

I never used tmax developer at this moment, but for what i've read i don't think there will be much different pushing tmax with xtol or tmax developer to 1600.

The tgrian is great for a push, it stay's more than acceptable!
Never used microphen either, is it that good @3200?

I've only used it on Neopan 1600 @ 3200 and it was good for that.

1973 Asahi Pentax Elecro-Spotmatic in Africa

in 1973 I went to Japan and bought an Asahi Pentax Electro-Spotmatic with help from a Japanese Camera Magazine writer-- it was much cheaper than British prices BUT I had to pay Import Duty and VAT at Heathrow Airport London -- anyway , it worked well for a while then I noticed if I took a series of quick shots in varying light. some were heavily over-exposed with a slow shutter speed-- I found out the metering circuit had a 'memory' effect as it relied on CdS cells not the later Silicon Blue type in later MX and ME Super models -- I had to use it set to 'manual exposure' most of the time -- I found out it was a 'Japanese Home -Market Model' and in the export versions there was a different battery too -- I sold it for 85-00 to a Camera Club member who kept asking for it as it had original box and instruction book and brown case.
I went to Kenya, Africa with the Pentax Club of Great Britain when Pete and Liz Cox organised trips and took these on PERUTZ C18 film and with the 135mm f2.5 SMC Takumar I bought from the 'Brentwood Gazette' newspaper for 10-00 as they had broken their Pentax ES !

Okay, I'll play

This shot was taken back in the late 70s. I remember shooting as a slide and printed in 8" x 10" photo. I recently scanned the photo, since the slide became pitted on the surface after I stored it in a poly sleeve. It was shot using my trusty old KX with Vivitar Series 1 90mm-180mm flat-field lens. This, by the way, is the 1st pic I'm posting on the forum.
