Bargain on Kodak Ultra-Max-36 ASA 400

I got a deal on 15 rolls of Kodak Ultra-Max-36 400 ASA, $45.00 or $3.29/roll, so looks like that is going to be my most used film format for a while. Will be pleased to receive any comments on this film. Thanks.

^^^Yeah, I jumped on that as well, I think. Or maybe it was 10 rolls...anyway, I believe it to just be a slightly upgraded version of the old MAX 400. I used a train load of it back in the nineties during my P&S days. It loves bold, vibrant colors and outdoor action stuff. If you're going to a hot air balloon race, this is the film for you.

Mine was 15 rolls because you had to order at least $45 total to get free shipping. Looking forward to seeing some results from this film.

Interesting about shooting film rather than digital, changing film is a little like changing sensors. You can select specific film for a specific photographic occasion, I guess a little like changing digital setting, color saturation and the like on digital.

Can I play? This was on Provia 100F, using a KX with 50mm/1.7, shot at the suggestion of my 7-year-old son.

Also: I am blown away by the quality of photos on this thread. Good, good stuff!

I was reading a Flickr thread yesterday about how bad so many people feel this film is, and I was a bit surprised. I've only ever shot one roll of it, when I was in NY, and it's a bit grainy but the colours were great.

indeed it's a bit grainy, but if you overexpose it a bit, it's far less grainy. Anyway, it's so cheap sometimes that i never complain

I don't think I posted this before although I prepared it a while ago:

Ullapool harbour in the Scottish highlands, shot in summer of 1991 on Agfachrome 100 RS slide film, LX with smc Pentax-A 100mm f/2.8 Macro (?)

This comes from film # 158 of 181 I shot that year--these were my part-time pro years...

The Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, c. 1965. An Ektachrome slide I found in pictures my parents took on an Argus C Four I think. I though it enough of a time capsule to scan it.

Very nice! Is there a relation between Abbe Lane and Abbey Road?

Sometimes grain and a so-so scan are good. Shot on Kodak Ultramax with an old Minolta Hi-Matic F.
