OK...I concede! That is a beautiful shot. I have been meaning to ask you how you like the XK. I have a friend who says he has one and I may talk him out of it if it is worth the trouble.

OK Steve I'l cut the p0rn and come back to the original topic: the Death of Kodakchrome and its replacement.

IMO the Portra is the best in the color negative business:

Please appreciate the blue contortionist in the foreground.

These two are not great for colour but...look at the size of these warbirds!!!

...all taken with the Mechagodzilla camera, aka Canon F-1N

I'm also eyeing the X1/XK/XM but I would prefer the later prism....however this is a discussion for the gear p0rn!

I like the XK because like the LX is the only changeable viewfinder for Pentax, it is the only one for Minolta. Like the K2/K2DMD, it has a non-motorized and motorized version. It is very industrial and more dependent on electronics than the LX. It is also quite advance in that it has the highest sync speed of all the titanium horizontal shutter types at 1/100. In my exploration of the manual focus world, I found that I had to explore this beast!

This one shot with the Minolta XE-7 using Kodak TMAX 100 processed in xtol. Should I have posted it in the b&w thread, the film thread or the gear porn thread . . .

The XK is indeed a cool machine. During my years as a camera dealer, I owned only one, and I was quite taken by it. A friend of mine back then was also something of an XK nut and he showed me his XK motor. Now that's a sexy beast, I must say. Sorry, I've no photos of his XK Motor, so I'm having to resort to google images, hope you folks understand the transgression just this once.

I was quite surprised by the sexy ergonomics as I held the camera. Yet it was incredibly solid feeling and felt built like a tank -- or at least an F-1 This was over 20 years ago, and he was telling me he wouldn't take a thousand dollars for his. I was in no position to argue, but he owns a camera store, so I assumed he knew what he was talking about (Silvio Bello of Silvio's Photoworks in Torrance, CA).

I just remembered I have some Kodak Portra 160 shots also. Taken with my Bronica ETRSi and 75mm PE lens.

From the same event, I also had some Tri-X loaded up in my Yashica Mat-124. Here are a few from it:

Nice Kodachrome shots everyone!

For me my last 9 rolls of Kodachrome 64 were taken on a trip to Buenos Aries in Oct, 2010. I sent the film to Dwayne’s from Argentina, via courier.

Here is a Kodachrome shot from the trip with my KX and K28/3.5:

That was also the trip when I semi retired my trusty old KX that I bought in 1975. It had completed its mission to take pictures in all seven continents.

Phil.

The cameras are a Fuji X-T1, a Nikon D3000, a Nikon 1 J1, a Canon 30D, a Canon G12, and a film camera, a Minolta X-700.

Flannelspoon, I bought some Fuji Superia 400 a few years ago and thought it was dreadful stuff. After seeing your shot, however, now I'm thinking that maybe it was the photographer and not the photographs.

Wolfeye your photo reminds me of a slide I took back in about 1989. Canon F-1, Canon FD 50mm f/3.5 macro, Fujichrome 100.
