I've read that the old Nikkor-H 50/2 is a really good lens. What do you think of it?

Really nice!
But sure that these are rice bags? I think they are barrels of sake. In some way liquid rice

Nice! I'll try the Fomapan 400. The 100 isn't very contrasty.

This is the first time I have used Nikon lenses. These are almost as nicely made as Pentax from that era, but not quite. The 50/2.0 has good reviews, and I was pleased with the results, pleasant out of focus areas. You are the best one to judge the results, which have minimal if any PP.
I used both the old single coated H version, and the later H.C. multi-coated version. The tree and orange trumpet vine pictures were with the later lens, and the flower basket and vase with the old 1964 early lens.

Your results look great.
I've read remarks from a few Nikon fans who prefer the 50/2 to the 1.4 and later 1.8.

Correct, yes they are Sake!

Thanks for pointing that out.

Well I have the 50mm f1.4 S-C, same age as the H-C, and I prefer it to the 2.0.

If I have to choose a f2.0 I prefer the Soviet Helios 81N:

These are all taken with my F2A and the Arsat 50mm f2N, the post Soviet version of that lens...the film is of course Ektar.

Very much the "Swift eye", seeing patterns and lines in everyday scenes. Good one.
