A gargoyle from Zagreb Cathedral - just for the fun of it

A new gargoyle *) from the cathedral in Zagreb ready for installation. The cathedral was under repair. Lens: smc Pentax 645 45mm F2.8 at F8. Film: Fomapan 100 Classic dev. in D-76 1+1:

I like this gargoyle, as it is more than just the neck and the head. It has a complete body with four legs. I had to kneel down on all fours in front of it (in a very cramped space, I might add) and use a "ref converter" to get the shot. A film camera such as this 645N does not have a tiltable LCD-screen.

*) From wikipedia: "In architecture, a gargoyle (/ˈɡɑːrɡɔɪl/) is a carved or formed grotesque with a spout designed to convey water from a roof and away from the side of a building, thereby preventing rainwater from running down masonry walls and eroding the mortar between."

Some etymology (also from wiki): "The term originates from the French gargouille, which in English is likely to mean "throat" or is otherwise known as the "gullet"; cf. Latin gurgulio, gula, gargula ("gullet" or "throat") and similar words derived from the root gar, "to swallow", which represented the gurgling sound of water."

I was out last December shutter-bugging with my Pentax K2 and Tamron 60B hoping to find something interesting to point them at.
I came across this and took a couple of snaps. The sky was really blue that day, and I like how it reflected vividly on the still water pools around the object.

( X-post'd at Lens Clubs / Adaptall Mount Club (Tamron) )

Camera: Pentax K2
Lens: Tamron 60B SP 300mm
Sensor: Kodak Ektar 100
Developing & Scans: Dwayne's Photo
Post Processing: Picasa (WB, ND filter)
