Mui....

... a little self-timer self-port with my seemingly successfully repaired little Russian KMZ - it had a nice chunk missing from the trailing curtain which filled in with liquid e-tape. No leaks on this roll. And now.... to bed.

Nice, did you use a lightmeter to meter or you "guessed" the exposure?

Hmmm... I really can't remember if I had my meter out that day or not to be honest. I *think* I took a reading for a wider iris when I left the house, yeah. I dunno. I use it about half the time... if I feel like putting in my pocket - the other half I just Seattle-16 it... also known as Crappy-8.

** Actually - I remember now - this was slide film and I was using this roll to test for light-leaks, and also wasn't planning to x-pro it at the time, so yeah I probably took a reading.

I wish you'd post your camera/lens/film combos. I know you usually use superia but I assume you've more than one cam.

Perspective taken with Pentax K2 and Pentax-K 50/1.2 on svema 125 by Jason Doss, on Flickr

The film I used is some cheap stuff I got from the Film Photography Project, so the colors may be off because it's weird film or because my first attempt at C41 processing went awry. Actually it did go awry a little... I added the Blix 2 to the water before Blix 1. Is that bad?

I love that Svema. I bought a bulk roll of it and have been shooting it quite a bit. It does have an odd palette and can tend yellowish, but that's part of what I dig. Fine grain and responds really well to postprocessing.

Any general TLR tips and tricks from the brains trust here?

I've got a Minolta Autocord which should be arriving this week, first time playing with both medium format and TLRs

That should be fun, I hear Autocords are great.

TLRs are pretty easy to use. The only difficulty is getting your head around the left/right inversion of the image. This sounds easy but the problem comes when you need to get the horizon straight and the camera needs to be tilted the other way.

Without a tripod, lower shutter speeds can be used than with an SLR because the camera (with neck strap) can be held steadily against your chest and there's no mirror shock. I imagine you'll be able to get down to shutter speeds along the lines of what you can manage with your rangefinder.
